Yeah I know they're not but don't spoil my thread with that....

if they were...last year and this year's playoffs would be vastly different. Not saying they would have won anything(I would give it to them this year).

2018 ADM for Hunter Huss 1118, those are 3A numbers.
Listen who’s talking, you guys still have 3A numbers. To answer your question, Chopper, they would be too much for ANY 2A team this season, they are superiorly more athletic, both offensively and defensively. They beat Crest 49-0 in two games this season. They have a special team this season.

Hibriten ADM shows 1001 students. Not the biggest in 2AA. South Point, Belmont, has 1049.

A new high school was built in Davidson county (Oak Grove) to help with overcrowding at Ledford and north Davidson. For whatever reason, the nchsaa accepted enrollment projections from the county that everybody, including north and Ledford, knew were way the hell off. Oak grove still doesn’t even have a senior class until 2019-2020 so it’s down right shameful the enrollment projections submitted and now you have Ledford and north in 2A when both are very much large 3A schools. No surprise that Ledford and North appear headed for a meeting next week to decide who plays for and likely has a good
Chance of winning a state title.

This year’s ADM for Ledford is 1023. north’s is 1144.

Where did you see North’s numbers being 1300? That was last year.

I don’t know why the NCHSAA decided to place them both in 2A. Ledford’s numbers currently constitute them as 2A. Next year, they will be at 900 and North will be at about 1000.

I can tell you for certain that neither of the schools asked to be in 2A. It’s just where they placed them.

Some of success comes from numbers. No doubt. But it ain’t the dominate factor. North Davidson stinks in basketball, wrestling, volleyball, golf, track, boy’s tennis and probably some other sport I’ve forgotten about.

Both will be underdogs to Shelby or hibriten

So I guess with burns getting to drop from 3a to 2A it is gonna open a can of worms and everyone’s gonna want to move early LoL

Most requests are denied from what I understand. I wish the NCHSAA would be forthcoming and make the information public. The Shelby paper is the only place I’ve read anything about this. (Thanks to a posted link in another thread). It’d be interesting to see who applies and who is accepted/denied.

Burns, West Caldwell and North Forsyth successfully petitioned to move down from 3A to 2A but for some reason Tuscola was denied.

They might as well just do a full realignment every 2 years. Many nonconference opponents change after 2 years anyway.

My bad, I looked at the wrong PDF. That was last year's numbers, sorry.

I agree that North and ledford should be 3A. Not my decision though... Numbers certainly help, but in my experience the area you're from speaks volumes when it comes to size, speed, etc.

Rville, Shelby and others are successful because not only do they have good athletes, they have a great system from elementary to high school. Not every school has that, some schools are completely different schematically than their feeder programs.

North High for years ran a pro style offense and 4-3 or 3-stack while the middle school played with a Stack I offense and 5-2 eagle defense, while also playing 11 dudes both ways...

It's just different depending on where you are.

Prepfan, that whole statement is not necessary.

I think East Duplin also has 3A numbers. I think last year they even had 3A numbers(or close enough) plus 19 year old players.

More than a few big schools hiding in 2A and they more often than not end up in the later rounds of the playoffs

Southwestern Randolph needs more than that. They need to go play with South Davidson and Chatham Central in the Yadkin Valley 1A conference.

Well I do admit football is my major obsession... I don't get on the other sports boards much unless North is going to State in baseball or softball.
