I'm with you, Doc, to a degree. I think the turnaround this team has made should easily take him off the hot seat for this season, and he should remain off of it unless we have a run of really bad losses next season.
I think Stoops is really starting to get a grasp on being a head coach. I believe next season, after becoming bowl eligible and having all of that extra practice this season, will be the season that really defines him and our program. If we barely scrape by on six wins and we don't play competitive in games against teams that are a bit better than us, I'd pump the breaks on him being a good head coach. If we go out next year, beat all the teams that we clearly should, maybe pull off an upset or two, and play competitively with the better teams, I'll start to get really excited about Stoops and our football program.
Right now, I think Stoops has turned the corner as a head coach and I'm enthusiastic about the potential of what that means.
