If we finish 2nd in our division do we have a chance at the Music City Bowl?

I don't know if UK would go to Music City if we finish 2nd in East. That would mean we would likely have beaten UT. So it might actually be a slightly bigger bowl.

UT has a very winnable schedule the rest of the way out. I would be shocked if they don't win out in the SEC:

@ South Carolina
vs. UK
vs. Mizzou
@ Vandy

The Music City is a real possibility, if we finish at least 4-4 in the SEC. If we finish 5-3, I wouldn't take the Outback Bowl out of consideration.

I want the Outback Bowl. The in laws have a place in Fort Myers Beach so I have a place to stay, I also have business down in the area, so I could make it a pseudo vacation/work trip. Plus I have a free voucher for plane tickets that I got due to an overbooking situation on Delta, so it's a win win for me in all ways.

Unfortunately they don't ask my opinion.

If we finish second in the SEC East, we'll do considerably better than the Music City Bowl. Gotta take care of business first starting with Mizzou tomorrow.

Would prefer a different venue than Nashville. The Gator, Outback, or Belk Bowls would be better destinations than our often frequented trips (4) to the Music City Bowl.

2nd in the East means zip when it comes to how teams are placed in the bowls.

Also, the Music City Bowl is significantly better as a bowl placement than it was back when UK last made it to the post season.

One can only HOPE that a return trip to the Outback Bowl is still a possibility for our C_A_T_S!!! What has it been, a 17 year time span since if memory serves me correct, 1999 & Tim Couch at QB I believe!!!~~!!~~

How funny we are.

I remember so well a few years ago when some fans were complaining that we were only going to the Music City Bowl.

Music City Bowl would mean we'd be playing the ACC or Big 10. Possibly a team like Iowa or Miami?

Its winnable but they might be the most beat up team in the SEC. Have several starters out for the year. They might win out, but I wouldn't say its a given. Could certainly lose one or 2 of those just because of injuries.

South Carolina beating Tennessee would be glorious!

UK finishing 2nd in the East I think you can probably take the Music City Bowl off the list of destinations, but don't think the Outback is an option either. Whoever takes 2nd in the East is likely going to get no better than the number 6 slot, maybe 7 because at least 4 teams from the West will be top 5, Bama, AU, LSU, A&M for certain almost and it depends on how the people view OM's losses against those teams and FSU. Belk Bowl would be in the works, Gator too most likely.

Bingo. 2nd in the East means squat. its where we finish 1-14 in the SEC that matters folks. That will be no better than 7th guaranteed.

Where we finish in the SEC doesn't matter either. Bowls aren't forced to take teams based on where they finish in the league. A 5-3 Kentucky team would be a VERY appealing team to a lot of bowls.

Record and fan support would mean more than position of finish. Even if we take down Missouri, I wouldn't count on more than a fourth place slot....which is all we could have dreamed of at season start...behind Florida, Georgia and UT.
GOTTA beat the Tigers first. The Cats will have to find a way to beat a top ten offense and not fumble away shots at a bottom ten defense. Even though many have pointed out that defense is missing starters, we have to remember we have little to no film or information on the kids stepping up.
Take care of business, Kentucky.

How much of a role does ESPN play in the bowl selection process nowadays?

I would say not much because ESPN doesn't care since they own the rights to like every bowl game except like two. So ESPN is going to get their money no matter what Bowl a team goes too.

May all be a moot issue if we don't play their "A" game today...maybe even if we do. Missouri had their version of our Southern Miss or EKU games last week. They won't be the same team today.

Great venue!!
2nd in the east means we beat Missouri and either Georgia or UT. Add in Austin Peay and we sit at 7-5. At that record I think we go bigger than the Music City. 2 hour drive for me, though, so I would have no complaints.
