Anyone who said they believed is lying. I will gladly eat crow. I didn't think Stoops was the answer. I was wrong but I do believe that Elliot needs to be replaced.

I believed. Not lying. Just glad now that BBN seems to be uniting behind a solid football team that is rolling. See you at the bowl game!

well in 2007 I walked up to Rich Brooks in Rupp Arena and told him to his face "Sir I have to apoligize" and he gave me a "WTF?" look and I just said "well a year ago I wanted you fired, and whoo boy was I wrong about that!". He laughed and shook my hand.

I'd enjoy having that conversation with Stoops as well.

I, CB3UK, WAS WRONG. I lost the faith. I said when we hired Stoops we HAD to give him five years and I did not honor my word after the ending we had last year and start we had this year. Coach Stoops has made some serious adjustments and fixed alot of our issues. We still have a lot to fix but thats the beauty of this. We're winning and we could actually be playing even better. Recruiting is stabilized and with another big win or two this year we may even up the ante!

Respect the process, see the progress.

Winning cures all. Now pass me the kool aid boys and lets whip some Georgia @$$!!!

I was disappointed after the first few games, but never thought Mitch should fire Coach Stoops. Have always maintained that he should give him through next season.

So happy for Coach Stoops and the team!

Way to fail again , there weren't many but there was a few . I got an incredible amount of venom and accusations of trolling for continuing to support . Eat crow for yourself if you want but don't try to take everybody down in a weak attempt to make it not look as bad .

Watched it happen. It was like fighting against a tidal wave, but there were folk who held on to hope amidst all the jackassery.

If you watched our defense the first few games, it looked like there was NO fix for it. It wasn't like we were getting schemed to death... People were just lining up and running it right at us and we couldn't stop them. That type of thing doesn't usually correct itself... it gets worse. I have to give all the credit to the staff and the players for getting it done now week after week. It's difficult to understand, but I am loving it.

I was very tough on Stoops. Felt he was in over his head. Glad He has proved me wrong. Glad for him and these kids. Had to be tough after those first 2 games. To his and their credit, they just kept working.

I was thinking 5-7 after Southern Miss. I figured it would be a challenge to win the 4 swing games of Vandy, MSU, SC and Missouri, although 3 of the 4 were at home. The Missouri game was the real question mark but by this week with all their injuries and issues and our improvement I expected and predicted a win.

I think we can beat UGA next week, and why I can argue the 5 SEC wins would be against the SEC teams ranked 10-14 (just being real here, no disrespect meant to us and I will cherish all 5 wins!), it would be very impressive to go 5-3 in the SEC this season. Sucks we lost to USM, as it may have cost us an 8-4 type season but that is in the past, can only look ahead.
Nice back handed compliments... Geez

I have said many times. If you are going to criticize, you have to be prepared to give credit when it is due. Stoops, the coaching staff and the players deserve a tremendous amount of credit for this turnaround. I'm super excited about next week's game. Damn, winning football feels good.
Yep, I'll give credit. I did not think he would be able to recover after the SM loss. The trend does appear to be going our way, and GA is such a horrible team, we're looking at 7 wins as a solid prediction. Stealing Uavel or UT's lunch would give us 8 on the way to a bowl, with a potential of 9, not to mention if Florida blinks we could be on our way to the SEC championship game. That's a successful season by anybody's definition. If we finish 2nd and end up 7-5 and win our bowl game, that's still a solid turnaround and Stoops will definitely deserve another year to capitalize on this one.

Stoops and company have pulled a "Lazarus" like resurrection after burying itself early. While it's still "Kentucky football" which means anything that is possibly bad could still happen, Stoops is certainly deserving of considerable kudos (at this point in the season).

I disagree. I think Elliot needs to keep his behind in the box relaying what he sees to stoops, and stoops needs to keep calling the shots. It's working, no need to change.

You really are one to be talking. Remember all of these quotes:

I have to admit I've lost all hope.

Think about this UL and WKU are now clearly better now

Boycott this program and Mitch

Petrino will do everything he can to run up the score against us as much as possible. There will be no mercy

Sad thing is, by year 4, Stoops was supposed to have us in a condition where we don't get laughed off the field.

Why does Stoops not understand that our tackles cannot block on the O-Line?

We thought Stoops in year 4 had LEARNED something by now as a Head Coach. We thought maybe he had LEARNED how to win and crush an opponent when they're down. But no, he's obviously clueless and ran off Neal Brown, Dawson, Towles, Reese Phillips and others...

We thought Stoops MIGHT BE the savior of UK football with the improved recruiting, facilities, etc., But he is Fool's Gold.

If we're 0-2 after Florida, Stoops is done. He made A LOT of money on his stop here though....

You gotta hand it to Stoops, he conned Mitch into believing the dream and now he's a multi millionaire for life no matter if he gets fired.

Don't spend another penny on UK football until a real head coach is hired. There IS a real head coach that would take this job because of our new facilities as a selling point.

I don't think any UK fan should spend another red cent on UK football until a real head coach is hired.

Mitch has almost destroyed UK football with his hires of Joker and Stoops.

The D-Line literally can't even get lined up on time.... This is worse than Joker.

At this point, if you allow this coaching staff to remain by attending games and spending money on UK football, you're part of the problem.

I'm sorry, but it's Mitch, Stoops, and most of our players. Fold the whole program. I'm not cheering for these players who don't even try.

What a joke you are.
I don't have a dog in this fight but I give you props on doing your research and being prepared!

I was as unhappy the first couple of weeks as anyone but this guy was over the top and then turned right around with:

"I'm impressed with Stoops"

"I recommend you get on board or get run over by the Stoops train, which is gaining steam."

"Unbelievable how miserable some UK football fans are...I'm convinced some of you would cry and whine if Coach Stoops started winning 8 games per season "instead of 9"."

"Stop whining. Most of you are just waiting on the edge of your seat to attack Stoops no matter what comes out of his mouth next."

For him to chastise other posters is insane.

Of course in another post I said the words "in my opinion" and he went off on me claiming that i have no right to my opinion and everything I say isnt a fact...????

Guy is off his rocker.

I'm absolutely delighted to be wrong. About a month ago, I tried to bet somebody on here that if this team got to 6 wins, I would self ban from this board for a year. Thankfully, he didn't take me up on it. :grimace: This team is not only going bowling, but they might win 7 games the way we are playing. Stoops has done a amazing job, with the defense, and Gran had also done a great job. Our players are playing like somebody slapped their momma.

Yup. We may not have really beaten any great teams, but today's shellacking especially shows how far we've come from Southern Miss.

I was wrong, but think the above is also correct. But for a welcome and long over due change, we finally beat teams that are beatable, instead of choking away sure wins.

SO glad to admit I was wrong...yes, about Stoops's ability to get it done after So. Miss & UF (but thanks to those, he took over D, so lemonade from lemons)...but MAINLY glad I was wrong to say a few games back I figured BOOM would be pouting when Snell got all the carries at the end of the Vandy game.

Seeing how emotional he was after last week and hearing how he was supportive of Snell via some people I know close to program told me this kid HAS grown up. And thank God...without him, there wouldn't be the 1-2 punch that I think has been key to our success.

This is the team everyone expected to see at the beginning of the season. Stoops gets all the credit for the turnaround but has to take the blame for the shitshow the first three games.

No one was unreasonable for doubting him then, being really excited now, and not being overly pessimistic or optimistic about the future of our program.

Yea, losing to UA and Fla was really bad coaching. NOT.

After the first 2 games I was ready to give up on the season, still wasn't happy after NMSU. Then I started coming around. I believe only 2 on this board believed, Merriman and Jauk. I think if Uk went 0-12 they would support whoever is in that position. After todat it looks like anywhere between 6 and up to 8 wins. Glad we don't have to start over. wish that Andre guy would chime in, he was the biggest critic on here

Like someone else said in this thread, Stoops pulling the plug on Elliott and taking over helped - I also believe the arrival of Snell Jr. and the O-Line has been huge, now we have a two-headed monster running the ball and that allows Johnson to hit some deep throws.

I still haven't heard one legitimate reason why Elliot should be fired. He is apparently a really good teacher in practice, can observe and relay critical information/strategies in realtime during the game, and Stoops trusts him.

Yes there were and they took a lot of crap with all the sunshne pumper talk. Kudos to them who stayed true but kudos to those who are back, it is fun to win again and be on point to be bowl eligible once again.

Agreed. There's little reason to doubt that he is a key part of this staff. Whatever we are doing right now appears to be working and I see no reason to change it this offseason.

I would say over 95 percent of the fan base thought the season was over after week 2. They are 5-3 and have virtually locked a bowl invite.

This....I thought 'same old same old' for my Cats this year. I was all in on Stoops before he took the job, and my confidence in him has waned over the past two years for not finishing on the terrific starts. Now it seems he is in his niche and has an OC and QC he can rely on to do the job on offense without second-guessing their play calling, which allows him to turn his energy to his roots - defense. If pushing Elliot aside for the sake of winning ball games is the key to making this season successful then I'm totally pleased with the results. Do your thing CMS!!!
