Nope but I have not watched many of the teams play. So I cannot say how much better/worse they are than any other team. Is Georgia better than Oklahoma. Better than West Virginia. Better than Washington State.Have you seen them play?
Yes, and we're exactly one game behind even the most optimistic predictions. Stop acting like this team is way behind schedule. The lost one extra game, period. Now they need to go win one we didn't expect them to win to correct the problem.
But only one game ahead of the pessimistic predictions. It's not so much the number of wins/losses but the way they've performed in each. Losing to Southern Miss in epic meltdown fashion, while barely eking out wins against Vandy and an atrocious USC team are stark reminders of how poorly this team is prepared. That's on the coaches and is the reason CMS is on the hot seat.
I saw this on HOB. In the last 3 games, each team we have played has had 11 offensive possessions each for a total of 33 possessions.I thought UK looked prepared against SoCar, Vandy and even Bama. Only 1 TD was scored on the defense between SoCar and Vandy games while holding Bama's offense to 27 points (a great feat this season). Also, since UK has gone towards a more run-oriented offense with a backup QB, they probably aren't going to put up a ton of points. The main thing Johnson has to do is cut way down on the TOs. If he can do that, the offense run the ball effectively with enough play-action to keep defenses honest, and keep progressing on defense, UK will be in the thick of things as for going bowling. I'm a fan of strong running and tough defensive teams as they usually seem to be steadier teams without the big ups and downs.
SC, UK, Vandy and Mizzou with UGA teetering between bad and mediocre.
MSU is the 4th bottom feeder on the schedule.

Our D has only given up 4 TDs in those 33 possessions. 3 were against Bama who averages over 40 points a game and is the #1 team in the country. The other was against USC.
It's impressive what our D is doing. We HAVE to keep it up though. Next 3 games are crucial for how the season will play out.

First he's not on the hot seat, he will be back next year. Second, our starting QB went down and we're playing a backup JUCO transfer at QB who is struggling, yet we're still winning the games we should.
I'm not going to go postal over one horrendous half of football. And really, if you're looking at W's & L's, which is all that matters at the end of the day, we're one game off.
Rick Brooks took 3.5 years before things took off.As a long time fan, I've just grown tired of the waiting. Really enjoyed the high points during Coach Brooks tenure but the only thing consistent about UK football is the mediocrity and inconsistency. I hope I'm proven wrong, but after 3 1/2 years of watching the current staff, I'm not convinced CMS can be anything more than mediocre.
They barely beat Mizzou, Nicholls St and beat USC by 14. They aren't bad for sure, but if UK can force them into passing situations we will be in decent shape. Eason will be a good one, but he has struggled a bit this year.I guess it's bad if you're GA but if TN doesn't pull that miracle out they are 5-1 with Ol Miss being their only bad game. They are not that bad.

Either way, it's very clear that our D is improving before our eyes - with a ton of these guys being RS Sophs or younger. You can refuse to see it or you can get behind them - totally up to you, doesn't matter to me either way.
The goal has been, and remains to be a bowl.
If he achieves that I will be CONTENT with him another year.
If a bowl doesn't happen, I would like for him to be fired at seasons end. Then I would like to take a run at Art Briles.
Days of accepting mediocrity are coming to an end, for me. I'll always hope we win but I won't be as reluctant to change the channel to a better football game.
Fans won't accept mediocrity in basketball but they have accepted mediocre football (me included). That's simply the difference in the two programs
Yes. We should make a run at that Art Briles. That consulting job will be tough to give up, I know.
If fans stopped consuming mediocre football at the rate we do, we wouldn't be mediocre in football.
You believe anyone at UK bases their decisions on hiring and firing on a website? He's #10 on this list ( http://coacheshotseat.com/ ). It's the "winning games we should" mentality that bothers me. It's year 4 and we're still just winning games against some really crappy teams. When are we going to start a year thinking we're going to win 8, 9, or even 10 games? When are we going to stop crapping our pants against Florida? When will we be hanging 20-30 point wins on the likes of Vandy? I'll gladly eat crow when CMS does this, but until then, I'm not sold.

Well, clearly you haven't been watching the last 3 games. We stopped accepting putrid football in jokers last year.. what happened??
What do ya know, we got a new coach.
I hear this rhetoric all the time.. "football takes longer than 3 years" "this isn't basketball"
What about Tom Herman? What about Jim Harbaugh? What about James Franklin? What about Chris Pederson? I could go on and on with coaches who have raised the level of success at a struggling program very quickly.
On average it does take longer to build a football program, but I've seen 3.5 years of poor game management, and the whole blaming us fans for the toxic environment has left a sour taste in my mouth.
If coach doesn't understand that we get upset after blowing a 25 point lead against SoMiss. Then I don't want him to coach our football team, along with other reasons.
I think the Austin Peay game will tell the real story. If we don't win the next two and don't show up against UGA and UT it could be ugly. Win the next two and it will be decent. If a Joker Vandy like crowd shows up it will be a long off season. It will be interesting to see what the attendance is for the Miss State game.
You are giving USC wayyyyy too much credit. When SEC teams beat us with joker here, do you think those teams thought, great win vs a team full of SEC players? I surely don't think so they took the win for what it was. A win vs a bottom dweller. And TBH, USC is where we were with joker. Just as bad. Same with Vandy. I'm not going to give too much credit for beating joker-esque type teams and act like they were fantastic wins.I'll go ahead and speak to the fools who think they know football.
First, USC is an SEC team full of SEC players. To downplay this win is self serving and disrespectful of the players on both sides of the ball. So you want to be happy for the players but not happy for the coaches?
If Stoops stays or goes will have nothing to do with you, or me, or any fan who thinks that anyone of importance cares what is said here.
These sites are for self important people who think they are way smarter than they really are and proves it with every post.
If you are going to be happy about a win include everyone including the coaches, and all the staff. They all work very hard and you should know that.
I watched about every snap the last three games. I want to be able to judge improvements by competing against the best of the SEC not the worst if the SECWell, clearly you haven't been watching the last 3 games.
And it seems like Coach Stoops hit a sore spot with you, by calling out toxic fans. You seem to be exactly who he was speaking to.
