being in the Big 12 conference and I blame that on David Boren. He could have made the decision to go to the SEC and it has crippled Bob's recruiting and as Switzer always said It's about Johnny's and the Joe's not the X's and the O's. We just haven't had the talent DEPTH we used to in a long time. We have great players but not many to create a depth of great players. That is why injuries hurt us so much. Shepard went down last year and so did our season as an example.
If OU were fortunate enough to go to the SEC you would see an immediate influx of talent because with the brand name of OU and being in the SEC our recruiting would go through the roof especially in Texas. It would be OU and Alabama ruling the college football world and ESPN would be giving OU a love fest like they do Bama year round. You think that wouldn't help our recruiting tremendously? We all know Bob is a great coach and if he were able to recruit a couple of years with OU in the SEC he would be a terror again IMO in the college football world. The SEC is killing our program and it doesn't even matter if we beat them every time we play them. It just doesn't matter because we are not in the SEC. We need to be in the SEC as soon as we can get in. Boren thinks OU is too liberal and above the SEC universities. He wants OU to be in the same vein as a California or Wisconsin and I think that would be bad for OU football and the university.
