Apparently a lot of the team didn't like Jeff Brohm too much and reportedly 15-20 people were gonna leave if Jeff stayed.
That settles it. UofL shouldn't have hired him.

Don't choke on those sour grapes.

There aren’t many things that are more consistent than the bashing of the coach who left for another job. We did it for two days with Satterfield and would have done it for longer had the coaching search taken longer. Now is Purdue’s turn to bash their former coach….

Gotta call BS. That said, every team has players hunting more playing time. That may make them ā€not likeā€ the coach. How many of these ā€œpeopleā€ played significant roles for the team?

The rumor isn't necessarily that Jeff was the problem. The rumor is that there are some around him who were disliked by the team and others within the AD. I'm not going to get into whether any of that is true or not because I really don't have any inside info about it.

I'm sure there are some, but most Purdue fans aren't really bitter about Jeff leaving. He was good for us and I don't think he's been anything but honest. Like any coach, he has his flaws but he was good for Purdue football overall. We're better now than we were when he arrived. That was his doing. As a fan, the only real drawback was the constant "will he or won't he" thing at the end of each season. I won't miss that at all. But anyway, most Purdue people are not bitter about him leaving because he really didn't do anything to make us bitter. Good coach. Seems like a good dude. So, really, you won't see much Jeff Brohm bashing from Purdue because he really doesn't deserve it (at least not from a fan perspective). We wish he stuck around, but good luck to him.

When Jeff left WKU, there were some who questioned the level of competition there, but no one is questioning B10 level. I can imagine the very best WRs and QBs in the portal will be considering UL has a potential transfer destination.

As a over 40 year Purdue person, I agree. Our program became legitimate again under his tenure following a 9-39 hell in the gutter of college football. We knew that eventually he would be returning home, the lures from fans and family were going to win. As a joke, he really needs a new car, he's still trying to squeeze something out of his 2004! šŸ˜„
