No, it's not.

I have them going 7-5 or 8-4

8-4 determining if they FINISH vs Louisville. Should've won the last two years.

No, not too optimistic.

Look, people quickly forget that we were literally a play away in 3 different games (Florida, Auburn, and Vandy), and we should have beaten Louisville after the lead we gotten on them. There was a legitimate shot for Kentucky to win 9 games last season, but between offensive youth, and an inept offensive coordinator, the 3 games that we were a play away in were thrown away. We return 11 starters on offense, and have a very, very seasoned SEC coach that had a prolific offense the last couple of years, and his co-coordinator/QB coach in Gran and Hinshaw as well.

8 is a real possibility.

It's possible and probably close to too optimistic

4 wins.... Too pessimistic
5 wins.....and that's all we will ever be..... Too pessimistic
5 wins.... But we go bowling the next year.... Pessimistic but on board
6 wins.... Average
7 wins....somewhat optimistic
8 wins.... Optimistic
9 wins.... Whoa
10 wins.... You're nuttier than squirrel turds

8 wins is not a crazy prediction though. Ball just has to bounce our way a few times.

It never does for Charlie Brown.
4/5 wins as usual is what I expect. I hope I am wrong.

8 wins is unlikely. We can say we were close against Vandy, Auburn, UL, etc, but EKU and La were close to us.

I think 6 is where we will be.

I think I read somewhere than Vandy is a preseason favorite over UK, I don't know how many actually believe that I guess they are going off last season. I can see UK being the underdog in 5 games right now, UF, UT, UGA, Bama and Louisville, if you believe the Vandy deal 6 but I don't think anyone here really believes that. So to get to 8 wins all it will take is 1 real upset. I don't see us being world beaters this year, nor do I see UF being great, UL is a rivalary game so anything can happen there. I don't see 8 wins as a real big stretch, but not a given.

it's more fun to be optimistic approaching the season probably as long as you don't bet that optimism. I am a nickle and dime guy as far as a gambler but I will say that last year I lost a good bit of $$ bettin on the Cats. I know better than to put much money on the team you are emotionally involved with but,,,! Oh well, it was house money that I had won on other SEC games but still, wish I had it back! But to your question, yeah 8-4 is probably too optimistic but who knows, we will see.

Then we also have the unknowns such as injuries to key position players. Keep everyone in decent condition and injuries to a minimum and I like our chances.

8 is possible because I believe the only non winnable game is at Bama. Deep down I believe 6 wins is what UK will get. To get 8 the defensive front has to be a factor and of course the offense really needs to move the ball consistently.

UK hasn't won 8 games in the regular season since 1984. Yes, "anything is possible", but certainly history is against it.

I think 8 wins is pretty optimistic given the variables (new coaches on staff and new starters (including QB & linemen)), but I would really like to be proven wrong on this subject.

They have the horses to stay on the field with almost every team we face this year, Bama being the one exception (thou strange things do happen occasionally) so I put no upper limit on what they can achieve this year. 6 is the floor.

I think you have to add UT to that list, they are a loaded team this year as long as Dobbs is playing. They have a defensive star at all 3 levels on defense and an offense with a playmaker at every position. Butch has to win big this year, they lose tons after this season on both sides of the ball.

I'm keeping my prediction at 6-6. I think six wins is very doable. More than that is certainly but unlikely IMO.

Good post, good advice, one of the first rules of betting.

But it sure is fun when you win the bet AND the game.

Tennessee has a very nice looking team this year and they are going to be really good - but not BAMA GOOD.
Obviously the Vols will be heavy favorites at home, but I'm not conceding this one.

They had Bama on the ropes last year at Bama who scored with less than 3 minutes to go to take the lead. This is the year they are built to be very good, huge dropoff next year and I think they could be fighting for 4th in the East. The only real weakness they have is not having a very effective passing game. We have them at home and it will take the best game we have played in 4 years to beat them. If Dobbs goes down, all bets are off, they will struggle getting 8 wins if its early in the year.

I see this 'realistic' counter all the time and to this I say hogwash. Had our offense been as good as the prior year and not regressed as it did, then not only would we have won those three close ones AND ul but the games you mention would not have been close.

Just got done watching the video of the new facility and I am hyped for the session. That place is going to change things. Old Kentucky football is dead RIP, 1955 - 2016. Everything changes starting today. No more bad bounces. No more blown opportunities. We got the tools, and we got the talent.

Guys, I don't think we lose one game at home this season. When they step out of that facility and do a wildcat walk to the stadium, they can not lose. Georgia is the only one that would be an upset. And excuse me for not being afraid of a rookie former defensive coordinator not getting instructions from Nick Saban anymore. Add in Missouri and louisville. I see a nine win season.

No, but the early rankings and such say that 8th win would require a major upset.

Peace

Agreed.

But almost all of Brooks bowl games required and got at least one major upset, and even Joker had one each of his first two years, top ten USC in 10 and Thug U without a QB the next year. Although Dooley (or his DC) deserve a MAJOR assist for that win.

It's about time.

You can hope it isn't against your team.

Wait a minute, aren't they both your teams, and wouldn't a win for UK do more for our program? I can see recruiting exploding if we even get to seven wins, FIVE more wins than the one that brought in the great (for us) 14 class.

If Kash, Landon, and Drake play, we can win 8. If they redshirt, it will be like last two years

Bear Bryant once said that for every true freshman you start you can expect to lose one game. And you're saying 3 true freshmen playing are the difference between 5 and 8 wins? Gonna trust the man who won a bunch of NCs on that one.

If Kash, Landon, and Drake find themselves having significant playing time this year that does not speak well about the rest of the team, our depth, etc. They will be great players by the time they leave UK, but they are not the difference between 5 and 8 wins as true frosh.
