Is everyone fooled by the USCjr win for the 3rd year in a row?

Difference between 1-3 and 2-2. Just enjoy the win, may not be many more.

I enjoy the win for the players and fans. I do not enjoy the win when MB will likely use that as a feather in Stoops hat to justify keeping him through his contract. It is a win but it is not progress.

I don't remember the precise wording. But, Bill Curry said "the association of the miserable". Seems UK is eat up with them. Anyone wanting UK to lose any game, for any reason, is not a fan.
Fan is short for fanatical. That calls for Blue-tinted glasses. By the way, Stoops beat Muschamp who beat Mason who beat Brohm. So, wouldn't Stoops beat Brohm.

No, it's not. There are absolutely 4 more winnable games on the schedule. Do I think it'll happen? No, the odds of winning all of them are pretty stout. But I also think it's silly to act like it's just so absurd that no reasonable person could think it might happen. Pretending like you're being objective and everyone else who sees things differently are wearing blue tinted glasses isn't a good argument
okay so now it is...its not ridiculous that we can win six...but the odds are pretty stout...?
splain Lucy... :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
that seems awfully close to "ridiculous"...and clarifying your point makes the glasses less tinted.
I understand the want and need to be positive. I have been there for 40+ years. Maybe that makes me a homer for sticking around sooooo long and putting up with this program and wanting and wishing and hoping and declaring that every year will be different...IDK

Everyone wants a competitive football program. The act that some of us don't just because we're not miserable after a win is getting old.

It's getting old I tell you!

Eff you. I'm enjoying this win.

"Improved defense", yeah Vandy held USCjr to 3 points til 7 minutes to go in the 4th. You see the truth about Vandy now. Allowing an average of 31 points a game since then vs 2 non power 5 teams and an ACC team. Georgia Tech put up less points vs Mercer.

Fact is, we faced an offense far worse than our defense. We did hold them to only to 10 points which is impressive against any SEC team, but USCjr hasnt scored more than 2 TDs in a game yet this year. The only reason they beat ECU by 5 was because they forced 4 turnovers. Which ill also give credit to our offense on taking care of the ball better than I expected they would.

I just want to calm down the BBN who are talking 6 wins. We beat the worst SEC (I believe Vandy is now better) or 2nd worst, depends on who you are. We played a great game and still only won by a TD.

I will give credit to the offense. I thought the NMSU game was just a complete fluke. The offense wasnt impressive in any way, but 17 points is pretty good vs that USCjr defense.

My point to this, is not to put anyone down, but make people think for a moment. We do this every year from "We're just getting started bro" to the EKU near disaster. The USCjr game has been proven to tell us very very little about our team. If there is one thing I do know it is that this team the way it is now WILL NOT win 6 games. Not even 5. I see Vandy as our team's only real shot at an SEC win.

If we had a FR QB, new head coach and coaching staff, and very young offense, and coming off a 3-9 season, we would not expect to win. So why get so excited when we beat a team who has just that?

Its great for our players and im proud, but stop the 6 win talk til we beat or even keep up with a decent team, pretty please

Why not talk about possibly 6 wins?

Need 3 of 4 between Vandy/MissSt/UGA (at home), and Mizzou (road).

All of those teams have looked really suspect at times. Miss State lost at home to South Alabama, and struggled with UMass this week. Even with our issues you don't think we can't beat them at home? C'mon.

They were -8 at home to SC, we were -2. With a 3.5 pt allotment, I would expect Miss State to only be favored by 2-3 points. Are we seriously so mentally shot as a fanbase that we can't think we can win a game with a 2-3 pt spread?

Vandy lost to SC at home, we beat them (not to mention Vandy got mauled by GTech). We should be favored at home against Vandy.

UGA beat UNC, but man they have looked horrible at times. All out to beat Nichols at home. Got beat every bit as bad (if not worse) at Ole Miss as we did at UF. Georgia is extremely overrated imo. I would expect them to be favored over us by roughly 7-8 points, so I don't "expect" to win that game. But it's possible.

Missouri is hard to figure. Their offense has shown some things so they might be decent, but considering games against them in recent years I don't see anything far fetched about beating them. I would guess we would be something like 6 point underdogs to them (UGA was favored by 7 there recently).

Winning 3 out of 4 of those games isn't likely. I think 2 is, but the other one will be tough to come by. But it's not something that we should refrain thinking about or talking about as if it's some pie in the sky pipe dream. We have our issues. But I personally think outside of Bama this is a down year for the SEC and several of these other teams also have some significant issues as well.

People act like Mizzou is a world beater. They scored 11 against WVU, the 108th ranked defense. They lost at home to UGA who barely beat Nicholls. They scored 70+ against a winless 1-AA team which gave up 56 points to another 1-AA team.

I'm not going anydamnwhere. And If by civil you mean attacking someone's fandom, then that's a degree of disingenuousness that's offensive.

I'm not sure what this thread says about being a UK football fan but there is profound meaning and insight here on the that issue.Maybe it is that we don't know how to deal with a win(we don't deal with losses all that well either which makes us all look like a box of rocks since we have had plenty of practice with that one)

I guess it depends on your definition of ridiculous. I think it's ridiculous to believe we can beat Alabama...most oddsmakers/stat guys give us less that 2% chance of that occurring. But, elementary statistics tell us it's not out of the question we could sweep the Vandy/Miss State/Missouri "gauntlet." I think we will be slight favorites against Vandy, toss up against State, and slight underdogs against Missouri. For sake of simplicity, assume it's roughly a 50% probability for a UK win in any one game. Thus the probability to win all three is easy to calculate...(.50 x .50 x.50= 12.5% probability to sweep all three). Not great odds, but within the realm of possibility. Against Alabama we're a 50-1 shot...we're roughly 8-1 to sweep those three games, and I've seen a few of those ponies get their picture taken. Can't completely rule out an upset of the Dogs either...they're a little suspect this year.

from what I have seen over the past 16 games (IMO), those games are not toss ups...IF we have turned the corner...I would agree wholeheartedly, and maybe we have; I just don't think so
This ain't my first UK football rodeo.
but I do hope you are right. I have no agenda against Stoops (as was all-in with Stoops until midway through last season)
I just want UK to be competitive on a national level. If that means moving on from Stoops to get there...the sooner the better

I don't expect to win 6. The long time Kentucky football fan in me says something has to happen to prevent it.

That said, the possibility to win 7 is there and I'm hoping to see this team fight to get it.

Fair points, 5 games isnt crazy, but 6 is just unrealiatic unless theres drastic unforseen changes. The 2nd half of our season hasnt been friendly to us, and I hve little to believe it will be different this year.
So, go sit in a corner by yourself and take your misery with you. Perhaps, you'll feel better.

If you were happy after a 2-3 start with a loss to a CUSA team and hopeful if a bowl. Then congrats to your lucky imagination. Who knew the teams we faced were going to be this bad?. It was not only me who thought this.

I have already made a thread saying they had a chance a couple weeks back. So how about you give some respect.

Bringing back a post from when we had our first good win and you are shocked that I wasnt comvinced yet? Arent you same people saying "If you negative people were right you all would rub it in our face"? But thats exactly what you all are doing, hypocrites.

If you were happy at this point in the season , you were the crazy one. NOBODY, besides a few crazies, thought we would get a bowl, even the positive ones, smarty. Noone also thought the teams we would play would end up being so bad at this point in the season. I have already made a post 2 weeks ago giving them credit.

I could call out a bunch of people who were wrong about stuff too. Geez, you people are obsessed with being right and will go as far as finding month+ old posts to prove it.

Even the optomisitic people werent talking a bowl and were calling it crazy. So go sit down, please. As if you predicted this.

Can't even give our team credit for beating a Vanderbilt team who almost knocked off UF and a Mississippi State team who was reverend by everyone as being better than their record indicated. Some people are just sour pusses and can't admit when they were horribly, horribly, horribly wrong

So Vanderbilt and MSU arent down teams? I do give the team credit. And I wasnt HORRIBLY wrong. We still dont have a bowl game yet and did you think we would be in this position after the start we had? No. Noone did.

Because I gave the players credit there. And alot of people still dont think Stoops is the guy. He snuck in some wins and I give him props. But I, along with many arent on the Stoops train yet. Give him a ton of credit, yes. Hard to turn around a team after the first 2 losses and the way he lost. Again, that was USCjr game, our first solid win, noone was on board yet. I have admitted I was wrong, but I definately dont take back that post. The USCjr win wasnt very convincing.

Not everyone wanted him gone. There were/are the rational people who said let the season play out...guess what? It's playing out. Don't say everyone when in fact it wasn't "everyone". That just makes you look like a liar with an agenda.
