Is everyone fooled by the USCjr win for the 3rd year in a row?

"Improved defense", yeah Vandy held USCjr to 3 points til 7 minutes to go in the 4th. You see the truth about Vandy now. Allowing an average of 31 points a game since then vs 2 non power 5 teams and an ACC team. Georgia Tech put up less points vs Mercer.

Fact is, we faced an offense far worse than our defense. We did hold them to only to 10 points which is impressive against any SEC team, but USCjr hasnt scored more than 2 TDs in a game yet this year. The only reason they beat ECU by 5 was because they forced 4 turnovers. Which ill also give credit to our offense on taking care of the ball better than I expected they would.

I just want to calm down the BBN who are talking 6 wins. We beat the worst SEC (I believe Vandy is now better) or 2nd worst, depends on who you are. We played a great game and still only won by a TD.

I will give credit to the offense. I thought the NMSU game was just a complete fluke. The offense wasnt impressive in any way, but 17 points is pretty good vs that USCjr defense.

My point to this, is not to put anyone down, but make people think for a moment. We do this every year from "We're just getting started bro" to the EKU near disaster. The USCjr game has been proven to tell us very very little about our team. If there is one thing I do know it is that this team the way it is now WILL NOT win 6 games. Not even 5. I see Vandy as our team's only real shot at an SEC win.

If we had a FR QB, new head coach and coaching staff, and very young offense, and coming off a 3-9 season, we would not expect to win. So why get so excited when we beat a team who has just that?

Its great for our players and im proud, but stop the 6 win talk til we beat or even keep up with a decent team, pretty please

To be fair, what exactly were you shown before the USCjr game to make you believe we were good enough to beat any power 5 team? ...and USCjr has proven to be awful. So, yeah...theres that

*palm to face* this is literally made for those thinking we can win 6. I have no problem with being happy for any win, i literally said I was proud...im pointing out the proven fact that USCjr is not good and we always get excited and the 6 win talk comes up when we beat USCjr.

To be fair,I had doubts about us winning but thought we could compete with them and would have a chance. South Carolina has a conference win and were 2-1 coming into the game.I doubt we will get to 6 wins but I think 5 is on the table with 4 the most likely outcome.South Carolina will likely at least match our win total.They haven't proven to be anything just yet and we aren't as bad as I thought we might be a couple of games ago.

Fair points, 5 games isnt crazy, but 6 is just unrealiatic unless theres drastic unforseen changes. The 2nd half of our season hasnt been friendly to us, and I hve little to believe it will be different this year.

I dont think being better than a defending 3-9 teams with a new HC and trash offense should be something to get excited about in a coaches 4th year. And ecspecially not enough to yield some bowl game talk. Im glad we looked good, but it is one of the few teams we have already proven to be better than.

I don't think anyone was "fooled". A loss is all but written in stone this weekend. But heading into the critical Vandy, MSU, Mizzou stretch coming out of Tuscaloosa 2-3 is a helluva lot better than coming out 1-4.

We held a team averaging 13 points to 10, so I don't think it convinced realistic fans of anything.

But it was a much needed win and we looked good getting it done. I'll take that every week no matter who we play.

It's UK football. I'm desperate for wins.

I've only saw a few people saying that. I doubt most cat fans think we will win 6.

I'm not trying to be a smart aleck , but it's just that you started the thread with "is everyone". I get what you're saying, but not many people have that opinion about 6 wins.

Personally, I'm happy we won and feel that we showed some improvement. Unfortunately, that IS taking into effect of how awful we have played so far and I'm also taking into account how terrible South Carolina is. Truth is, had we played as terrible against South Carolina as we have most of the past 3 weeks, we would have lost to South Carolina, even though they're terrible as they are. I think most people seem to be on that level.

I also don't believe many people who feel that stoops needs to go changed their mind based on that win.

So the people (and I'm not including you) who got on the message board immediately after the game defending their position on firing Stoops as if people were suddenly changing their minds were essentially punching at air. I didn't see one person saying that.

"Everyone" was in no way literal. But I respect and understand what you are saying. My post is for those crazy ones who did change their mind and are talking 6 wins. I admitted im proud we won. But im taking very little from that win.

Yes because someone will actually read this and stop talking about it. No, they will think what they want and I am not "bothered" I think its quite hilarious and sad actually. The last thread I started was about the coach.

I dont think anyone who thinks we can get 6 wins finds offense to my opposition, seems like the only one bothered by me being "bothered" are those who agree 6 isnt going to happen. Its a conversation piece, I was very understandig and gave the team credit.
But 6 wins isnt going to happen. My posts are always taken way way way too literal.

Man, i sure hope no one on the team gets the wild A$$ idea that they can win 6.

With the way the fan support is headed on here not sure how they could stand the added disappointment. The intelligent thing for the players to do would be to quit while they are behind, right guys?.

Vandy and Austin Peay are the only teams we have a shot at.

It's funny how some fans don't realize that this isn't our first rodeo. But if someone wants to believe that things are going to get more positive who are you to rain on their parade? I've seen more bad then good but I'm not going to be miserable over it like you seem to be.

Not sure how much improvement we needed to see before we could claim improvement. If a fan that has paid attention did not see improvement, then I think they were not looking. USC's offense is weak, but UK played them as well as any team has played them this year. Would Bama or Clemson or Wisconsin or UL or Stanford play them better? Of course. Improved does not mean excellent. But, fans who saw improvement can feel good about that. Does it solve everything? Absolutely not.

The condescending arrogance of the OP is nauseating. Please, find another team to support....maybe one in Louisville. If UK beating another SEC team ruins your day, you need to move on. Everyone knows SC was no great shakes, but if nothing else UK showed some competitive fire on defense that's been sorely lacking.
The OP is "certain we won't win six games." I think it's unlikely, but a certainty? Ridiculous. We could beat Vandy, MSU, and Missouri. Sometimes team actually IMPROVE as the season goes on...something I suppose isn't easily comprehended by some people.

If you can't see that, you have some extra thick blue glasses on. And that is ok. Every organization needs an eternal optimist, and sometimes they are right.

No, it's not. There are absolutely 4 more winnable games on the schedule. Do I think it'll happen? No, the odds of winning all of them are pretty stout. But I also think it's silly to act like it's just so absurd that no reasonable person could think it might happen. Pretending like you're being objective and everyone else who sees things differently are wearing blue tinted glasses isn't a good argument

The truth about Vandy now? Weren't you the one that said Vandy had improved since the USC game in another thread? So which is it?

USC offense is ranked 124. UK D is 109. Hardly far worse.

Sounds like you are trying to put people down.

Maybe you should stop the "stop the" talk yourself. After all, this is a message board.

Didn't UGA barely beat Nichols and then beat Missouri? What does that mean with your logic? Is UGA or Missouri terrible?

Vandy and Austin Peay are games that we should be favored to win and what we saw last Saturday is probably good enough to win both.After that it gets dicey,Miss St has been a tough team for us lately,UGA we usually play tough,it is hard to tell what kind of shape the Dogs will be in when they get here. Mizzou is slinging the ball all over the lot.UT and UL are really bad match-ups for us because of the QB's

Six is a long shot but crazier things have happened
