Is Kengera Daniel done for the year?

Yeah, no other program besides us and Alabama have these issues. I mean, Damien was storming off the field last weekend, their top defensive player and too 10 draft pick gets arrested, their 5* QB transfers mid season. I mean Alabama is a sinking ship right now. It is getting ugly over there.

LOL.....perfect response!

touche' - I did preface that it was my opinion though :sunglasses:

and Cave is spot on - Forrest and CJ definitely "developed" during their time at UK

as a good attorney would say after being refuted "I rest on my objections your honor"

Still not listed on the depth chart. Stoops either has no control over the team with all these suspensions (Bell, Daniel), Meant, Hatcher, distractions (Horton, now we hear Baker stormed off the field last night); players transferring at an alarming rate and not getting developed. It's getting bad over there.

What are you referring to when you say "Baker stormed off the field?" I haven't heard anything about that......and he didn't make the trip to Tuscaloosa.

To retort:

I get what your saying UKCR - sometimes improvement is gradual. We are talking about a lot of young players that still have time to develop, and some have already shown signs of improvement. I also understand that so many of us are bashing the staff left and right it does seem like a pile on.

I just cannot stand when people make blanket statements of opinion and act like its 100% fact. If someone has the opinion that certain players are developing, or certain positions are improving, great - they most likely are. But to just blindly say that there is "plenty of development on this team" as a point of argument means nothing.

Take our seniors - I realize there aren't many of them - but how many are really that much better than they day they stepped on campus. Toth is (ironically, because so many on here bash Schlarman at every turn), but honestly look at the others - I would argue that most have either plateaued or regressed since their soph. season:
Kemp
Timmons
McClain
McWilson
Harmon (maybe unfair to put here, playing fairly well)

That is lack of development. This doesn't all fall on Stoops; the offensive guys have had new OC's every year (except for OL - see Toth)

I am still pulling for our team, our players AND coaches - that doesn't mean I can't be critical of what I see.

Thanks for the response, PR.

First point is, being critical with respect is perfectly fine (constructive criticism). Slamming and bashing is what I am talking about.

Second point: When you say "lack of development," who is responsible for that?

You mentioned 4-5 players that haven't developed. CJ Johnson was one I tried to remember the name, but couldn't. Glad someone else brought him up. He's another player that absolutely improved while being coached by this staff. How come only some players are developing, then you have a few that aren't?

My thought on that is, maybe they (the players who haven't developed as much as we thought) were closer to their ceiling before they even got to UK. Others have more room to grow whether it be in fundamentals, technique, etc.

It's hard to mention all the players we have on this thread that have obviously gotten better, then say a few players haven't been developed and then blame it on Coach Stoops and his staff.

Some players work harder than others; some players don't catch on to the systems as fast; some players - as I said - may not have as high a ceiling as others..... lots of variables.

But to say coaches can't develop - as I've read on here over and over - and that's the reason (coaches) is a bit shortsided, IMO.

PS - I agree about JD Harmon. I actually think he's a better player than he was before Stoops got here.

I will say this - the entire offensive side of the ball has had it rough.
Like I said previously, 3rd OC and system in 3 seasons.
Even if the plays are similar, new terms, new blocking assignments, new splits, its hard to transition quickly sometimes.
I am frustrated at the state of the program but it really isn't anyone's fault - it is what it is - in regards to the offensive players and development.

I'll say this about development: I've seen more improvement on D in 2 games than I had the past 3 seasons combined. And more improvement on O this year than the past 3 combined.

We may finally have the staff we need
I agree with this; however, the improvements on D are because of Stoops direct involvement in the coaching. So I am not sure we have the right D coaches in place. Go Cats!!

Stamps and Timmons are not remotely close to being on this list.

Wins have nothing to do with those things...
There is flawed logic.

WINNING is first, second and third priority. The coach could be wearing chaps and a Bozo nose at pressers throwing the university president under the bus if he's clocking in 10 wins a year at U.K.

"WINNING is the best deodorant." - Bill Parcells
"Winning is not everything" - apologists, Meetch and crockpot fanbase.

Eliot:

what younger guys specifically are getting closer to playing more: “I think Kengera Daniel is getting closer. I think, um, we talked about Eli Brown getting more playing time and Kash Daniel’s getting closer. I think Jordan Bonner’s getting closer. I think moving forward you’ll see those guys on the field more often.”

Big difference is they actually win football games, not just recruiting battles or point spreads.

Your right, but I have been reading where a lot of our fans are praising us for keeping Bama to the lowest scoring this year, and we beat the point spread. To several fans, that was a win! They still haven't learned the difference between a WIN and a LOSS.

OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!
