Is there another SEC coach who's a national laughing stock

To the level of Beamer right now?

Finebaum, who I can't stand, rightfully called Beamer a loser.

That other A&M guy, who I don't particularly like either, rightfully said beamer was Smote(d).

I mean, it's one thing to get beaten, but it's another thing to act arrogantly in the face of just being an ineffectual leader.

The number of media items just thrashing Beamer is increasing hourly.

Maybe it's time we cut him loose

But, but...he had the best record after four seasons of any coach at South Carolina, EVER!

Going forward, how does he, or any of the staff, recruit players to come play at this clown show?

I would think being able to say everyone has a chance to start, but we've seen how poor performers continue to get playing time while others ride the bench.

Every coach from every team in America tells recruits they have the chance to start as a freshman if they can win the position. Dabo is the only coach I know of who promised a recruit he would start as a freshman and we see how Willy Korn worked out.

Of course, Shane was pretty much the only coach who told Harbor he could play WR so he would come to SC.

No longer a coach but my first thought was Derek Dooley. Similar pedigree and similar results. UT got rid of him after 2 years.

Dooley was an assistant head coach at LSU and head coach (at La Tech) before coming to Tennessee. Beamer had jack squat.

I just don't see how he recovers from this. The national media was having a FIELD DAY with Beamer's antics. I guess his only saving grace will be that the nation's attention span is so short that people will forget soon. I sort of hope Donati and the board remember, though. I think he's proven his immaturity as a head coach.

If you're an OC, do you want to work for that guy, though?

Even Josh Pate, who is usually speaks pretty well of us, wonders how Beamer comes back from this.

Beamer was celebrating more mid-game that most coaches would celebrate after the game was over.

I'm not sure how you come back once the national media decides you are worthy of mocking. How do you recruit against that? How do you hire assistants against that?

Beamer transcended sports this weekend. Our collapse was all over every sports show.
Everyone should brace themselves for what is to follow: Every end of year highlight show/article will mention the TAMU game.
Every time TAMU gets mentioned in the playoffs this year, this game will be referenced.
Every time SC plays TAMU for evermore the lead in will be "And who can forget this game in 2025 ?"

Oh yeah, it's going to happen.

If they actually were to win the title, that 4th and 12 play will be played on a loop.

Do you mean other than Belichick?
Well, he's got UNC at 4-6. If they managed to pull a couple upsets in their last games, they'd be 6-6 (4-4) which would be wildly successful for how the season started. That's not likely to happen, but they've got a shot anyway.

I would have said Dabo a few weeks ago, but he's got Clemson heading towards a 7-5 record, with a shot at an 8th win a bowl. Grossly short of expectations, but not a terrible season.

He will be under the spotlight the rest of the season.

Beamer's never been a great interview. He's particularly bad in these on-the-spot situations. We all know how these things go. The reporter asks a standard question, and the coach gives a standard non-answer, most often pointing out mistakes that were made. That's how it's gone since the dawn of time. I honestly cannot say I ever recall hearing a coach reference the previous year's game in such a situation and how many points they hung on that opponent. He could have just said "We felt pretty confident coming into the game that there were some things we could do well, but we know there's a long way to go." You don't gloat about what you did last year.

I suspect things are gonna get worse this week when Beamer is celebrating like a 4-year old on Christmas if we beat Coastal.

How in the world does he attract an OC from outside the program? Shula was a lazy hire from within and we see what that got us. What coach is coming here for a one year contract? I can't imagine the AD or BOT offering a multi year contract at this point. Of course this is SC and nothing surprises me anymore.

Definitely not similar results lol. Dooley never got close to sniffing the success Beamer's had here.

I don't think he will. Furrey will get promoted and he will hire someone to coach WRs or promote an analyst.

It will be VERY telling about how Shane is thought of in coaching circles if he is forced to promote from within again.
Whatever credibility he had he has used up. I see no way in hell that he convinces a Kendal Briles type to come here. At one time I thought someone like Shawn Elliott or even Donati might be able to help, but not now. Not after last weekend.

It is crazy to think that we have to limp into next year with a lameduck coach.
