It's Barnhart's fault!

This has nothing to do with Stoops.
You constantly take up for him. People have gave you a hard time about it all season. You have taken up for stoops harder then any poster. If stoops rights the ship people will be eating crow over what they have said to you. If he doesn't though people will be calling you out for it.

yes, the worst! except, about a year ago, his own peers voted him AD of the Year.

how to reconcile this seemingly impossibly set of facts?

edit: before you give in to your worst impulses and call me an idiot - I am not - let me go ahead and address this further by pasting my response to someone yesterday. speaks for itself:

For the record, I've said MB has proved himself incapable of fixing football (had several bites at the apple, no progress), it's time for him to leave and give someone else a shot, and if he stays I'm not sure how much sense it makes to get rid of Stoops as I have no faith Barnhart can identify and get the right guy to replace him.

Having said that, basketball is in really good shape, the Olympic sports are in really good shape, all the athletes and employees in the athletics office seem to really like him, we've had no scandals under his watch, no NCAA issues, administratively he seems to run things well, and some big time schools keep hiring his assistants (Miss State, Arizona, Oregon, Sryacuse, Florida, etc), which tells me he must be respected.

I know most posters on the football board don't care about any of that.

But, there's a difference between saying,

"I don't care that Barnhart is good about all that other stuff. He sucks regarding football, which is what I do care about."

vs.

"Barnhart is a moron, one of the worst ADs in the country, no other SEC school would keep him. I heard he won't hire anyone who's not an ordained minister. And he had something to do with 9/11."

Just how many other SEC schools do you reckon would keep that moron with his record in football?

I could care less what people think about my opinion or about calling me out. This isn't life or death and I am.not all knowing and neither are any on this board. But this thread isn't about Stoops.

How is it that I am somehow ignorant for supporting my team? Isnt that was a fan does? Makes no sense to me.

Yeah he was recognized with 3 other AD's. 28 total athletic directors got awards. C.M newton got the same award in 1999.
3 other or 28 other?

Out of how many - several hundred?

Do they normally give AD of the Year awards to the "worst AD in the country"?

Four people got recognized when he did in that category. He got that with the athletic directors from TCU, Baylor and Uconn. 28 total AD's got awards. Was broken up by different category's from what I read.

well, my point isn't really to argue that he's the best AD in the country. I don't think you can fail at football like he has and get that nod - even at UK, which is historically awful and I'm sure why people outside the state give him a pass.

My point is he's not the worst either, not by a long shot. But people get emotional and say dumb things....

Until I looked it up I didn't know CM Newton received the same award in 99. He's not terrible at everything, I think people just want a winner in football so bad. Petrino going to Louisville and having them in the top ten I think has made matters worse because it's common knowledge Mitch shot him down. Some people can be civil with that anger about the program and others can't.

No. The other poster did and many of those you speak about giving me a hard time.
I respect your fandom. I was just telling you how people will react whether your right or wrong. The seasons not over so im actually hoping your right with some things I've seen you post. I just don't have much faith in Stoops. As a fan, I hope I'm wrong but he hasn't given me much to be hopeful for.

Bunch of microwave fans on here. The lack of patience is apalling.

TrollCat, Patience Hell! Fans like Law1127 and me have been waiting since Bear left. OH! I know Curci had a couple of good years, but mostly it's been downhill. At 77 years young, I don't have that many years left, and paying $9600 for 6 seats to see us keep losing isn't what I call fun. If a coach can't win, get his A$$ out of here.
I'm not interested in excuses, just results. If you were in the military, you know when the "Old Man" told you to do something, you didn't ask how, or say it couldn't be done, you just got the job done.

OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!

Barnhart's fault? Yes, but he's hardly in a class by himself. He joins the ranks of other UK ADs dating back about seven decades. One would think by the simple law of averages UK will hit upon the right formula at some point.

And of course, none of those AD's had anywhere near the recourses or current State of affairs to make it happen. Barnhart has nearly everything he needs to make it happen. Whether he's unable to convince the right people to spend it or pursue or he's just unwilling himself, it is what it is.

Barnhart should be done already, but he's one bad hire away from losing the last 100 supporters he has. I wouldn't trust him to hire a maintenance crew.

Or, those fans that don't support rapists enablers or illegal activity. All of.you that are slurping Petrino are the same ones bashing Petino. Yall also trashed Petrino before you wanted him here. So, I just choose to stick to my morals and stadards instead of selling my sole to the devil.

Not me. In this current climate, college athletics at this level no longer need a morality parental manager as a coach. Short of rape and murder, you go after the best qualified Coach period.

As I've said, some of you ( 4 people to be exact) need to inform the parents of Petrino's recruiting classes that he's not worthy to coach their sons. As a matter of fact, you need to inform all the recruits parents that uk is the morality brigade. They seem to be missin the message.

The problem is you've got to see negativity when its present and not try and turn it into a plus. Negative and negative only equals positive in algebra.

It only hurts us in the end. How many years of finding positivity in uk football will it take for you to say "ok this all sucks, throw it out and do it right?"

I'm 30, can we please stop pretending before I die?

I can't wait until stoops gets to 6 wins in year 6 or 7 and all 4 of his pumpers start screaming like they've won the super bowl.

And we wonder why we have problems. Twisting yourself into a pretzel praying for a .500 season.

Just pathetic.

Actually, there needs to be a balance. If you day everything is bad all the time, then you change things that don't need to be. I have said plenty of negative things. I have said multiple times that I am not big on Eliot. Also said the jury is still out on Schlarman with the oline, in my opinion. I hated Dawson as a coach, and also couldn't stand how the administration hasn't supported football for the last 50 years.

The sad truth is taking criminals and recruits that know they will have every possible aid in covering up their sins is a huge advantage in recruiting.
