It's not the identity that matters but the preference.

GOOD FOR THEM! DON'T BACK DOWN, LADIES! Women's sports must be for women.

It is a complex topic, to be sure. The kids need to be able to feel safe in the locker room. You definitely don't want that transgender individual to be in the boys locker room for that very reason. Adults just need to get their heads out of their asses and mandate that when you transition, you must go to a separate area. That is the price to be paid for the freedom of gender identity.

What do you mean by "the preference"?

The sexual preference. The fear comes from co-location with individuals who may prefer you sexually as opposed to individuals who may share your gender identity. That is a difficult matter to sort through because of the existence of homosexuality and bisexuality. You are not going to ban someone from the locker room because you suspect they may be homosexual, and you sure as hell are not going to ask everybody what their sexual preference is.

OK -- many people don't realize that sexual identity and sexual preference are two entirely different things. Glad you noted the distinction. That said, I think a separate space for trans kids is a reasonable accommodation.

A lot more simple than that. Identity, preference, lifestyle, whatever. If you have outdoor plumbing, then the restroom/locker/shower marked for women, is not for you. I don't care what you "feel" like on any given day.

This country and legal system have reached utter nonsense to choose protecting men who think they are women, over the safety and security of biological women. And stories like this using Title IX as an excuse are a joke. Title IX wasn't intended for this purpose and no longer serves the women it was supposed to uplift, not to mention the usurping of the legal system to hash out sexual abuse allegations. Happy 50th fooking anniversary.
