Have to say I've been watching these guys longer than most of you have been alive. Most of us older guys deserve the right to voice our opinion because we've seen the same thing over and over, year after year, decade after decade.

I will say these last couple of weeks have sparked some interest. While I think these wins are against mediocre teams, these are normally the games we always find a way to lose. That in itself is a bonus.

If we can win this SEC game on the road then you can call me a believer. We're clicking right now and it's up to the staff to keep it going. I hope like hell it happens, honestly.

Good post. They may be mediocre but consistently beating those 4 is the first step in a long process. Stoops has made some mistakes but given the roster he inherited if you had told me at the beginning he would beat vandy, miss state, sc, and Missouri I would consider him at or above reasonable expectations. Let's just hope we win Saturday.

Gene, I'm with you. Like you, I have been watching UK for over 70 years, and I always think, "This coach could get the job done." I thought that with Curry, Mumme, etc. I see a light at the end of the tunnel. I just hope it's not an oncoming train. I think we will find out this Saturday. Until then, just keep the faith.

I don't think it's quite as simple as equal number of wins. We have to show we can beat somebody other than south Carolina on the road. More the circumstance than the victory itself.

I think they are coming from the point that the game they are playing is always the most important game. You can't really look ahead, you just have it take it one game at a time.

There are no real bad teams in the SEC.Any win a team can get is a good win.I just wish UK had won against Southern Miss,a team they should have never lost to.

No offense but there are at least 4 bad teams in the SEC (hopefully we don't make number 5 and finish strong). It just so happens that we get to face all 4 of them and if we beat Missouri, we will be 4-0 against them. It is about time we take care of business and beat the teams in the SEC we should beat. I will agree that all wins are good though, but doesn't mean they were over good teams.

I agree Gene. I have been attending games since the 70's and, with a few exceptions, the current vibe around the program seems different. MSU was setting up to be a "same ole Kentucky" loss but we flipped the script.

Following for 50 years all I have wanted was a reason to believe.
After the S Miss loss there was no reason to believe.

I thought Stoops was doomed for sure.
Now I have seen improvement throughout all aspects of a team. Very encouraging.
Hope we can finish the season strong and play well even if we don't win. Something to build on for next season.
A reason to believe.

And there is not a danged thing wrong with this. Every SEC champ every year plays the weak with the good.

Not saying you subscribe to this consensus, but the permeating idea that we've only beaten weak teams and shouldn't be happy about that is pure hogwash.

Like you I have been around for a while, I would point out one difference in this team and season. After the first two games they looked like one of John Ray's teams or maybe worse but they have gotten better(really that was the only direction they could go)

We have had 2 or 3 season defining games in a row(USC,Vandy and Miss St) now we have another this week.A team can only live on the edge so long, maybe we have one more week left in us. Until now it has been about preserving the relevancy of the remaining games in the season, now it is about the season being one in which we take a step in the right direction.

I'll come out and say it I don't believe........yet..... but they have my attention, if we get this one there is a little something going on here.

Mizzou is beat up , has little to play for and probably has no more overall talent than we do.The table is set all we have to is not drop the plate.

I've "only" got 40 years following UK football but I agree. The last few weeks have been a real good start, and an unexpected one for me. But I've gotten burned a lot. Remember, even Bill Curry won three straight home games against mediocre SEC teams. It's whether or not we continue to build off this that's going to tell the tale. Here's hoping.

If our momentum does not slow down, we will finish with a pretty nice year, after a very shaky start. Johnson and Snell have been the impetus, along with Pringle.

I think you've got me all wrong. I'm 100% in with Stoops and Company. I didn't really even watch college football before he got here. I'm an optimistic fan through and through, my post history can attest to that if you don't want to simply take my word for it.

Of course I'd be happy as a pig in stuff if we lost at Missouri and beat Georgia at home. I just think it'd be better for the growth of the team to reverse that. If i had my druthers, I'd choose that way.

I still believe that coach Stoops is headed in the right direction. If we as fans would be patient with him through the rest of this year, which could be better than we expect, instead wanting him fired, we could be the surprise team in the SEC next year. Next year's team will have all of his recruits and I think it will be special.I like the coaching staff and excited that Coruitingrach Stoops is involved with the defensive line. It is improved! If we fire Coach Stoops we could very well lose Coach Marrow and more. Recruiting is very important and we have some good recruiters. Coach Stoops should have the opportunity of coaching next year's team. I have a feeling we will be a very good team. So let us be patient and support our team. GO CATS. I think most of us BBN will be very well pleased with the results. After next year I think we'll be satisfied, if not then we can change what's wrong with the team. I know some are wanting and can't wait to get a new HC. Hold on a little longer you might not want him fired. We could be surprised with the results.

I'm sorry I spelled coach wrong, Coruitingrach, I know I couldn't have hit the wrong letters! I'm new at using these new fangled machines. I'm 72 years old and I just wanted to give Coach ,I spelled it right, Stoops, the coaches, and The Team, GO CATS some support. Let us get beside them and support them. This team is on the upper climb. GO BBN.

All I have ever asked for is improvement through the season and I feel like I am getting that a little bit this year. For this program is all about establishing a winning culture despite who you are playing. I don't follow Stoops beyond the final interview but my takeaways from his final interview is that he tries to stay positive in wins. The last few weeks his final interviews could have been easily about how we threw away opportunities or got lucky but he acts like we executed the game just like we planned. I think that attitude resonates well with the team and helps them build a winning culture.

Everyone deserve to voice their opinion in this country. But along with that, everyone has a responsibility to do it thoughtfully, analytically, and carefully. Like you, I have seen a lot of Kentucky football. Every year, whether we win or lose, I listen to our fans attack our coaches and our players as if they just don't know any other way to react. In 2005 and 2006, our fans were adamant that Coach Brooks must be fired. After a couple wins in a row, some people like you temporarily moderate their critical behavior. But it's only reactive. Can you understand the situation and stand by our coaches and our players even after a well-played loss? Because it is very likely that we will lose to Missouri on the road tomorrow.

It will great to see the kids come off the peak of the "walk off" victory and bring home a road win, if it comes to pass. Should it, I expect we head to Knoxville 6-3.

I'm noticing some of you guys are coming around with a little positive thinking. In other words you are getting somewhat more patient. I won't tell my age, but I will give you something to think about. I started roaming around Stoll field watching The Babe along with Bob Gaines, Steve Millenger, Jim Proffit, every chance I got. It kept getting better and better till I was completely hooked.
I can't remember if Cawood was announcing at that time or not. It could have been Claude Sullivan. He sounded a lot like Cawood. Anyway that is enough about the old times.
I know I keep harping about this patience thing and I believe I am right about it. There is already comments being made about if we lose to Missouri and how it will set us back. Yes we are going to lose a lot more games, but keep in mind the improvement that has been made.d I see a lot of progress being made in all the players offense and defense.
We just have to guard against expecting too much too quickly, we are a very young team, comparatively with rest of league. Lets give our coaches the benefit of the doubt and support them. Don't let 1 bad game or season derail us, that is when the team need us the . most. Go Cats

As far as the mediocre thing....(shrug)....
In college football, there are maybe three outstanding teams in the country, five very very good teams, and maybe ten solid teams. Everyone else falls in that mediocre to poor category.
We have been really bad for so long mediocre would look good for a couple years. Then I would want solid....then hopefully we go up.

It's just good going into the Mizzou game with a legitimate chance to pull one out...would mean volumes for Stoops. Sorry, still critical but just want to see the staff make adjustments and manage the game. They're doing a pretty good job using our running game but IMO need to manage the clock a little better. I'm sure they know a shitload more than me but as a fan, I'd love to see that handled better. JMO

Agreed.....But one thing I realized after the MSU game, is that 1) Mullin is on the Hot Seat, so that team was desperate to change that, 2) they were playing their A$$es of to gain a win towards bowl eligibility..... That was a desperate MSU team we beat!! Not to mention that losing to Kentucky usually makes you look like the laughing stock of the SEC.....

You simply stated what, seemingly, 90% plus of all UK fans want. More! It's a curse that seems more genetic than greedy. Don't be offended I'm in the same boat with you.

I am really tired of fans diminishing the wins we get. If you actually watch college football and not just UK you will see there is not much seperating the 20th team and the 50th team . Quit saying this crap about mediocre. There is 1 great team this year and 4 or 5 really good ones the rest including UK are all pretty much equal fighting for wins
