I watched the spring game and did not see these 2 on the field.

Allen was a 4* with tons of offers. Ledgister was the fastest recruit two years ago and I thought would make an impact at WR with his blazing speed.

Are these guys still on the team, injured or ????

I was thinking the same thing. I have listened to the podcasts by Ritchie and the rivals crew and they have never even mentioned Allen’s name. Ditto for Ledgister. That class was praised for its offensive line recruits. What happened?

I think it just is what it is with Allen. I know he’s dealt with injuries, but it seems like he’s not even on the 2 deep radar at this point. That’s worrisome, even for a redshirt freshman.

Wasn't he injured last year and is behind as a result. Takes a while anyway for Oline to develop let alone freshman who were injured.

Give it time

Stone, who should be in HS played in the spring game with 3 months of being in the program. Allen was not even on the field from what I saw. Everyone that was not a starter or was not hurt played in the spring game.

Allen's development has really been thrown off track by injuries. Hopefully now that he's healthy he will be able to get back on track.

It is normal for OL to develop for 2 years and start cracking the 2 deep in year 3. We had a pretty good RT follow that path and then play on the NFL and in his case I don’t think there were even injuries. He was a lean athlete who needed to get bigger and stronger. OL is a crowded room. I think Asamoah has a chance to start and everyone else from that class will be on the 2 deep at best. Not all 7 guys will crack the 2 deep obviously if only 1 has a chance to start. We will find out more in camp but I’m seeing Pierce as a lock, probably a 3 man rotation at Guard with Dunlap, Ciafoni and Asamoah. Brown and Gus at Center. The RT slot should be an interesting battle in camp assuming Pierce moves to LT. I didn’t see who lined up where in the spring game. This is just based on the coachspeak and who has played in the past. Would be really great to see Sutton play a lot but not sure if he moves back to OT or stays inside.

He’s right. Takes a while before olineman are ready. Aside from QB, OL takes the longest to develop. As long as this isn’t a Micah Clark situation, I’m not too worried (yet).

It is interesting- a lot of the recruiting rankings are based on "NFL potential" more than college potential. Allen came in highly ranked. I believe that is why many are questioning his progress but I agree, way too early in any OL career and more so if they had a whole year out with injury.
Just missing that year almost drops a 4 star recruit down to a mid 3 star when you are talking OL.

Based on the missed year- I sort of re-grade him to a mid 3star with great potential and this being his first year. I would like to see him get some play on the field and then crack 2 deep next year and then, hopefully, reach potential and start in his last 2.

He’s made little if any physical progress since last year due to the injury. He’ll be ready to go next year imo.

Yes , he was injured and not knowing exactly what that injury was puts things in perspective with any recruit. I thought I saw a spring practice with him and suspect we will see more of him by summer but you never know. Ledgister is only a RS sophomore with great athletic ability but not much football experience out of St. Peter’s JC.

As Al said, Allen’s injury (whatever it is)
Did not allow him to strength train.
You can’t play against 22 year old men if you can’t participate in the weight room, even if you’re physically advanced out of high school.

I would not write Jacob off just yet. We have 3 -4 others who should be in 2nd season yet some are expecting them to be on the Rutgers two deep. It does not happen in that order for many OL players.

I think Chin sees the field this year as the RT beating out Needham.

Chin is a pile driver and if he can clean up his pass blocking against a speed rush he can really help us.

I could also see him playing a role as a blocking TE if our TEs don’t learn how to block at an acceptable level.
