No inside info, but the Herald News article states that city staff have already recommended the plan, which I assume will carry some meaningful weight with the commission and the full City Council.
I am having a real hard time picturing a no vote.
The end game for any reasonable neighborhood opponent can't be to block the project, but rather get it amended to the most desireable form for them.
To block the project for the neighbors would be enticing the Franciscan sisters to sell the land to someone else and then have it rezoned. Then the neighbors can appreciate the Dollar General or mediocre rental apartments across the street. Athletic fields are a way better neighbor than run down commercial or below par residential.
Agreed. My guess is the Plan Commission will approve it on Thursday. It will then go to the city council maybe as early as December. It may get tabled/delayed, but eventually it will be approved.
The neighborhood has two choices, a Jca stadium or section 8 housing.
Passed the Plan Commission tonight. Now goes to the city council for final approval.

In the presentation, they detailed attendance numbers from both the 2023 and 2024 seasons. The Morris semi game last year drew over 5,300. The Provi semi game in 2023 drew 7,500.Nice of them to shout out the crowd Morris brings
