Do I dare ask what happened to get released? If it is serious serious you would think some schools would be a tad hesitant to dive in head first without finding out how deep the pool is?

I always found it odd that he was ineligible at ESL and yet qualified for a full-ride scholarship at Miami, Fla. ESL must have some incredible standards!

Jeff was preparing to transfer. A mutual agreement with his head coach check his Twitter. Can’t blame him Miami has no QB. A a hand full of great wr

Thomas posted his own statement on Twitter.

“Regarding to the situation with me,” Thomas wrote. “I did not get kicked off the team as of how bad it sounds. I came to a agreement with my Head Coach on leaving the program to better my future life and family life. I couldn’t thank this program of how much they’ve done for me, and the things I’ve done on the field is my way of respect for the program. Much Love!! #BeatPitt”

Best of luck. However if he is looking for strong qb play, Illinois not the best option. Michigan state could be a good fit.

So it sounds more like he was leaving anyway and then the team dismissed him for missing a meeting? Pretty harsh for missing a few meetings. I’m guesssing they did that because they knew he was leaving anyway and they didn’t want it to look like top guys are catching the life boats on the sinking ship? Major college football truly is a business. :(

It is from his Twitter, but his statement is that he decided to leave the program. If this decision was made between the coach and Jeff Thomas than it shouldn’t be that big of an issue that he is no longer with the team. He decided that he will play for another university and while perception is that he is quitting on his teammates, he is making a business decision because he may have a future at the next level and his coach should have the opportunity to play other players that will be part of the team moving forward. Best of luck to this young man and that he made the best decision for himself!
