Johnson can't throw downfield

I disagree the wind screwed one deep ball to badet and had badet made any effort he still should've caught it and scored. And the NMSU game he hit a man over 50 yards downfield with a DB draped all over him. He's just inexperienced but as far as throwing goes he's not bad he's not great but not bad and he's a helluva a lot better at throwing and decision making than towles was. I think Johnson is a competent QB and I've been pleased with his play outside of the Bama game which does that to a ton of QB's.

Johnson is a good complimentary qb and a nice backup for this exact situation , he brings mobility but he's not a primary answer . Johnson needs to protect the ball more than strive to be an effective passing threat . It's up to the staff to call appropriate plays that diminish his weaknesses . Barker is better suited to maximize the offensive potential and balance .

Dude, he's thrown 3 passes into double or triple coverage. He's a JUCO, so not sure where the inexperience is you talk about. He's need to run.

Huge difference between JUCO and D1. You kidding me? You see it all the time with JUCO players having to adjust to the level of the game.

It's almost painful to watch him throw. Almost every pass is picked off. Eventually teams will shut down our run game because we are no threat to throw the ball. We need Barker back and use Johnson as a change up. He is not an SEC QB.

Yeah, well I think we all know fun time is over after the bye regardless of who QB is. Not to say we won't beat MSU, I think we will, but beyond that? Gonna be tough to keep up with Johnson at QB.

I'm not sold on Barker, think he'll be a bust overall but the past 2 games has shown me why he won the job. I wouldn't be opposed to a 2 QB system if Barker gets healthy this year. Johnson has no vertical passing game

The wind isn't Johnson's issue.
The deep throw to badet should've been a TD with or without the wind. I've seen a lot more from Johnson than I've ever seen with towles. I truly believe he's a halfway decent QB. Not saying he's great, but not saying he's bad either. Especially not as bad as many make him out to be.

Remember Woodson as a sophomore? I'm pretty sure barker is ahead of where Woodson was as a sophomore. I truly believe Barker has a CHANCE to go down as one of the few All Time great UK QB's

We are up 17-3. I get he's not the most accurate passer, but at this point all we should care about is the darn scoreboard.
I want to keep it that way but if Vandy picked off half the passes they should have we wouldn't be up now. He needs to quit trying to make the pass when there is no pass to make.

But...they didn't. (Intercept). That's the way it goes sometimes. Breaks. The breaks are going our way so far.

Is it Johnson or has Vandy DB's found a way to key the qb and know where the ball is going? It seems like their safety is breaking on the ball before it's ever thrown on 2 or 3 of those plays.

He is still playing decently. Up 17-3 and the team has been playing much better ever since he started getting PT against NMS.

Johnson is pretty terrible but my god Barker is horrendous..at least with Johnson in the game we focus on our strength which is running the ball, with Barker in there the coaches would try and switch back to a passing oriented game and Barker has shown to be an absolutely terrible passer, almost as bad as Johnson

I thought badet could have made an effort on that pass but he didn't but that being said Johnson is really struggling throwing the ball. I would not be against a 2QB system when barker returns. Johnson expands our running game with his running ability via the run option but barker can extend the field much better and it's not even close.

Johnson fits this offense. He is an improving passer and reader of secondarys. I don't think he locks on to his receivers but is a half a second slow in hitting open guys. That's correctable.

He is struggling today, his recievers could have helped him a little better. Juice should have caught that ball early in the game, and Conrad had his hands turned the wrong way in the corner of the end zone.
Johnson needs to get more accurate for sure, but his feet have given Vandy problems. Also, the D is continuing to improve !

Johnson is waiting until the receiver gets open, versus throwing him open. Late over the middle isn't a good strategy...scaring me to death but doing good things with his feet on the run/pass option.

Vandy is playing a 2 deep zone with the corners playing a cushion as well. They aren't giving us ANY deep routes. The pass to Conrad was thrown a hair too late and too flat and a few of the others were definitely affected by the wind.

Johnson has made great decisions today and played winning football. That's the bottom line.

The announcers are driving this dropped interception story. The passes on the side line and the end zone were not that close to being picked. They weren't great throws but the QB is supposed to put the ball into an area where the receiver can make a play on the ball. His receivers have not been doing a great job either.

If we want to beat a team in the sec not named Vandy or South Carolina he has to make better decisions.

You can settle for that, but his bad decisions might even cost us this game. Your argument is that he is bad, but is getting lucky breaks?
No. My argument is that we do NOT know what's behind him. Probably worse. When the eff are our fans going to realize the our aback up QB is a backup QB for a reason??!!

What does that have to do with what I've said, read my posts again. I never said pull him, I said he needs to make better decisions.

Everyone else has said we need to break Hoaks RS.

I don't disagree that he needs to make better decisions.

Johnson is not a good passer, and he throws into double/triple coverage. Surely we have someone on the roster who can complete a pass. He flat-out sucks.
