With just two league games remaining, Kentucky is in tremendous position to win its first ever SEC East title. The Cats need some help, but the Gators remaining schedule is extremely difficult. It's nice to be talking bowl possibilities and SEC races instead of coaching changes and empty stadiums!
*So the Cats just dominated Missouri on the road. Let that sink in! I guess this is where some will say UK beat a sorry team on the road. Probably the same people that picked MU to win or UK in a close one. You can't please everyone I guess . And don't forget, Missouri was damn near a touchdown favorite!!!!!
*The defense. Very nice! The UK "D" allowed 14 points (I'm not gonna count the one yard drive after the PR) and under 400 yards of total offense. UK's front seven continues to play well. There was a lot of hand wringing this week about the MU offense. Stoops and company were prepared and did a tremendous job.
*The OL. They absolutely mutilated Missouri's defensive front. Missouri had one of the worst rush defenses in the nation, and UK put up well over 100 MORE yards than the Tigers typically allow on the ground! Just a dominant performance by UK's big uglies!
*The Snell/Williams duo was on fire today. Snell goes for 192. Boom for 182, and on HALF the carries that Snell got. Has UK ever had a game when TWO backs went for over 180 yards?
*UK was able to get Badet, Baker, and Johnson 3 or more catches each. Those guys will be needed as the season rolls on. UK still needs to get Conrad involved more often.
*I thought S. Johnson played a very solid 1st half (minus the late pick of course). Plenty of positive in the passing game from the first half to build on.
*This is a game UK probably should have won by 35. They were dominant. The turnovers, missed field goal, and punt return cost UK a bunch of points. Hence, there's plenty of room for improvement.
*For the 2nd straight week, UK out-gained a league opponent by nearly 200 yards. That hasn't happened in a LONG time!
*Up next, the biggest home game of the Stoops era. UK might very well be playing for a shot to head to Knoxville with the SEC East title on the line. How unbelievable is that? It should be an exciting week around Lexington, and not just because the tank tops are playing !!!
GBB!!!
