Rich Strike, out of the #21 post position….and only getting in yesterday on a late scratch….wins the Kentucky Derby at 80-1 odds 😳

He busted through on the rail to overtake the stretch-dueling favorites, Epicenter and Zandon 🏇🏇🏇

(Ok, back to your politics, LOL.)

Hilarious how on the way to the winner circle Rich Strike was attacking the escort horse.

Yeah, that’s what we were speaking of.

As far as I know, those outriders ride their own horses, so he was pissed Rich Strike kept biting his horse.

It was a nice ride. It looks like the field lost him on the inside. I'm not sure that wasn't rider error. It looks like the lead rider was preoccupied with the rider changing on his right and lost the rider on the rail.

He fell for the old 3 card monty.

Rich Strike’s jockey was really patient….stayed out of traffic, manuevered through the inevitable holes as horses got tired, and just steamrolled the final 1/16th.

Dunno about the shorter Preakness, but he’d have to be a top fav in the long Belmont.

I don't know much about horse racing but in the late 90's I had the pleasure of meeting and talking about horse racing with the great Robert B Lewis Owner of Triple Crown contenders Silver Charm in 1997 and Charismatic 1999.

What a great man. I was basically a stranger to him we just meet and went right into racing he treated me with kindness and respect and we spoke about racing like we we're old buddies. I'll never forget him. Anyone here who knew Robert B. Lewis probably knows what I'm saying he was special. He told me he owned a Budweiser distribution plant but was more interested in talking horse racing than business. I was sorry to hear he passed away in 2007. What a loss.
