Ledford vs Hertford County

What do we think? Hertford is peaking at the right time, but can they break through ledfords defense?

As an aside, I am very familiar with Ahoskie football history before they became Hertford. Very nice tradition you guys have down there. What does Hertford bring to the table guys?

To be honest, last week I drove to the beach so my gf could spend the weekend with her best friend... I may not be up for traveling to Southwest Edgecombe... May go to this one instead as it's much more local... We'll see.

It's hard to imagine teams from Davidson County (as far west as Winston-Salem) playing teams from Hertford or Edgecombe and even Dare Counties.Seems like it would be fun, though... Good luck to you guys.

Residing in central North Carolina, as far as the East / West lines are drawn, can be tricky bidness, not really knowing what squad to keep an eye on , or what squad one might want to nonchalantly scout, never knowing if one's team will be playing in beautiful, waterfall laden Transylvania County or smellin' the salt air of Nags Head, all the while gazing at the Carolina girls and listening to rhythm and blues, known to some as " beach music. ". Good luck to the Ledford Panthers, and North Davidson, too.

Thanks, GSO, it's good to hear from you, too. Carolina Girls is a fine tune.
I recall mentioning to you, once, that the old Stroupe's Soda Shop, in Lincolnton, NC sold the Sunday edition of the Greensboro Daily Record, way back in the day. If you kept the paper in order they didn't mid if you looked through it. It was there I learned about the Page Pirates and the Grimsley Whirlies. My memory is a little foggy on this but it seems like the Whirlies had white helmets, when I would see them on the sports page.
I been to games in Forsyth, Davidson and Rockingham counties but never Guilford. One of these days I want to see Page and Grimsley play football.

Gates is still playing right? And if I'm not mistaken that's a rival... No issue with that, we lost to Davie by beating ourselves. Rivalry games can bring out both the best and worst in you...

Nice film, I like it.

We don't see ledford posters around here too much either... Or other DC schools for that matter. Most of em make an account to make one or two troll posts and are never heard from again... At least this year. There have been posters before but they don't post anymore.

A number of Thomasville posters who I enjoy on here. BTW I thought the SE Guilford was rated #1 kicker in the state.

I've never encountered a Hertford County poster up here. I'm a Northeastern fan and we beat them very bad on the road in Ahoskie. Since then they've turned it on and have been playing really well. That hudl hi light reel is of my daughters boyfriend. He's a really good kid and takes fb very serious. He's starting to blowup and he's taken his game to another level. Their kicker is his best friend and I watched him at practice knocking them thru the uprights at 50 plus. Both are Jr's and will be back next yr. I think the road to the ship ends tomorrow night for Hertford County. I am pulling for them though because they are from our conference.

Your probably right about the kicker. This kid for Gates hasn't hit anyone's radar yet but it's coming believe me. He's a big kid 6'1 and is the one on the left in the picture. I have videos of him kicking on my fb page, he's a beast. Best of luck to you guys, I believe yall will win fairly easy

someone please beat Ledford...they must be stopped...I work with a former Bulldog who has 2 state championship rings,and told him Ledford is in the 3rd round of the playoffs and his mouth hit the floor,he could not believe it,and that they beat Thomasville 35-0 this year....times have changed

Times have changed and times will keep changing. You guys have a great coach now and I expect you to get back in business soon for the conference title and beyond... Ledford and North will change for obvious reasons.

Tville posters are my favorite and have been my brothers on the message board for a decade since I came to the board! Go Knights and Go Dawgs!

Hertford has speed. Just watched them a bit. Ledford is physical and faster than normal but speed has always been their weakness, like us.

Ledford is the favorite but there are no bad teams in the third round. Hertford, like Tabor, played a whale of a schedule.

Let me preface this by saying that Ledford is better than Thomasville, no doubt. Having said that, you can’t give a team the ball that many times inside your thirty on unforced errors and expect to be competitive. Ledford took advantage and deserved the win, but that score was very deceptive. To be fair, after the wheels fell off in the first quarter, it could have been a lot worse.
Unlike the adults, those kids probably didn’t have a clue that Ledford had never beat Thomasville.

BlackKnightNut, IMO give it about 2-3 more years and Oak Grove will be another Davidson County team that people will be talking about.

“Mack to the Future”. I don’t pay very close attention to the Tar Heels of the past... but perhaps what Smack is bringing won’t work well for him?

I wish him luck. I hear nothing but good things about his character and work ethic. (#23, not Mack Brown)

The thing is, Ledford has NO offense at all, NONE. Yes, you look at some of their scores and think otherwise, but they don't. They score a lot of those points because the other teams defense is soooooooooooooo bad. Trust me on this. If they score a bunch tomorrow night it will be because HCHS has no defense. How is Hertford's defense?

Yes, Ledford beat North Davidson but they would have only scored the two point's ND GAVE them if ND's monster defensive end had not went out in the 2nd quarter with an ankle injury. Ledford crossed mid-field ONCE vs. North Davidson in 4 quarters of action. Now on the flip side, Ledford has a REALLY stout defense. I mean knock you in the mouth and come at you 100 mph type of defense. That side of the ball, the Panthers are no joke.

I wondered that, looking at their schedule. I felt like the games that they did score a bunch of points was due to numerous possessions and great field position due to their defense. Even then, some of the point outputs weren't impressive. But those defensive numbers, boy....

That defense has good, solid talent across the board but they don’t just scare you when you line up against them. But those jokers 1-11 relentlessly pursue the football and they will damn hit your *** all night.

If Hertford county has athletes they have a shot against Ledford. Key is to spread them out and tire they defense out over 4 quarters. Much easier said than done but if you stop Ledford on offense, you have a chance if you can get a few first downs and score early.
