This is the "kiss of death" for the consolidation effort. The SC school board will now buckle & fold like a cheap suit. Look for a redistricting "compromise" in an attempt to fix the academic/social mess at AHS. This will open another can of worms when the kids that have grown up in the western demographic schools are now sent into the "city"! More fireworks than ever are on the way!! Sometimes you have to be careful what you ask for!!

First, Rep Burr must get the General Assembly to approve the recall. My guess is that will only be the most two most recently elected board members. Not sure if they can go back further than the past election. Another election end of the year will be for two other seats. Due to some recent events in Raleigh not sure about Rep Burr getting the support he needs.
At the end of the day was the redistricting not really what was needed?!? I feel confident that Burr would not support redistricting as that is not what the largest voices (western Stanly) want. Some in southern Stanly would be for it but as long as their schools are not closing they will not care. They are content with what they have but I think they fail to see that Norwood ES and South Stanly HS are the two most vulnerable schools along with AHS and EAES. Western Stanly will be out of the battle in five years due to growth but I think enrollment wise Norwood ES and SSHS will be in much worse shape numbers wise and it could spell the end. They need to push for redistricting.
