Don't know how much it would help, but CPK might want to think about changing his starting line up. Traore gave nothing today. 0 pts and 1 rebound and he can't shoot.

Also have to try and get Rooths more minutes even though he is the lone freshman. His length, athleticism, and shooting could help out with more experience. Edwards looked really timid today as well. Smith was the only guy that looked like he really wanted to be out there and was the high scorer with 18. We'll see how they do in the next few games.

I think Traore is a liability, too. He brings great energy, but unless you are playing him as an undersized five, he doesn't really fit what CPK wants to do on the perimeter. First game, so not going to make too many hot takes, but I also agree that Rooths needs to see the floor more.

Traore is horrible. What lineup do you go with? The slow shooting lineup who can’t guard, or the more athletic lineup who can’t score? 15 wins top this year.

They got destroyed on the glass. I'd probably do something to address that, not sure what. Maybe give Anselem a look try to light a fire to Scott. Safe move is Pryor for Traore.
It was hyperbole. There is nothing you can do when you don’t have the Johnnie’s. Anselem is not in Tennessee’s league.

We got destroyed on the glass because we missed 44 shots. What? You expect 20+ offensive rebounds? They also shot over 55% from the field. Not an awful lot of rebounding opportunities when those two things combine. We got beat for shooting pretty exclusively from 3. That needs to change.

TN only missed 23 shots but got 12 offensive rebounds out of that.

I'd go with

Hepburn
Smith
Hadley
Rooths
Scott
No, Pryor must be in the lineup.

Hepburn
Smith
Hadley
Pryor
Scott

Edwards is not a reliable 3 point shooter. He has a windup to get his shot off which takes too long. Scoring Koren I believe is a better offensive PG than Chucky, but not as good a defensive PG.

I think Waterman has a chance to be one of the better 6th man on the season.

Instead of focusing in on Traore, what is up with Edwards? Isn't he supposed to be the top dog? Wasn't he our most prized transfer. Since the two exhibition games, he has been basically invisible.

I mentioned Edwards in the OP. He was a non factor in the Tennessee game but then again so was everyone else except Smith.

Hadley was supposed to be one of the bigger recruits too but has had similar performances to Edwards. Still it's only been 2 games. I'm willing to give everyone on this team more than 2 games to show what they can do.

Everything is in flux right now. Kelsey is learning about his team just like we are. You can't simulate talented competition.

Guys are also learning a new system with a different roster. This roster has talent that didn't perform against a top-ranked team in their second game of the season. Edwards, Hadley, Traore, and Koren Johnson are all really good players. Hadley and Johnson came from Power 5 programs, where they played really well.

This team forced 20 turnovers and had 12 steals.

They got punched in the mouth by a really good defensive team that also happened to shoot really well. Making season long statements about how horrible players are based on these two games is completely insane.

I'm not saying Kelsey is 100% going to take us where we want to be and people are idiots for doubting him. He may not work out. But this roster has a lot of talent and its up to PK to figure out how games like Saturday don't happen again. He assembled the roster, he has the talent and now he's got to make the pieces work together and I think he will.

I've been saying all along that he's doing everything right so far, he just has to put the cherry on top and win games. Will be interesting to see how he bounces back after this. Luckily we have a couple weaker teams coming up that we should beat and get some things worked out..

Next big test will be IU, they beat Tennessee, so will be interested in seeing how we do after a couple more games under our belt....

Practice, Practice, Practice ………..these kids need to recognize the opponent’s defensive pressure and adjust. Vols took away the passing lanes by challenging every single pass. Their superior athleticism and physicality resulted in either moving through our screens or executing the switches most effectively.

I expect Kelsey knows that IU will apply the exact same strategy; anxious to see Pat’s adjustments between now and then.

things that have to cleared up. shot fake Waterman and he will leave his feet. easy to drive on him. Traore can't shoot. play the passing lanes. Pryor will dribble excessively: pick him off. Edwards slow wind up: go for block on his shooting side. team will drive but won't shoot 2 pointers: play the passing lanes on the corner or wing 3 point side.

Traore has the energy to be a spark off the bench if nothing else but you are playing 4 on 5 on offense

Not sure why Traore seems to be the guy who gets picked out the most. Yeah, he has underperformed in the first 2 games but so has a couple of other players. Maybe its because a lot of fans don't really know who he is but he came from a respectable Long Beach St and had some impressive numbers. I think that's why Kelsey was starting him. He can't all of a sudden be a dog. Here are some of his numbers and he's scored double digits for two of his college years.

CAREER: Became the 19th player in school history to record 500 rebounds in just two seasons … Currently sits 15th with 549 career rebounds … On pace to join the school’s 1,000 point scorers and has a chance to join Lucious Harris, Ed Ratleff and Larry Anderson as the only LBSU players to record 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 300 assists in their careers.

Would love to see Hepburn and Smith start in the back court. Both guys play defense and everything moves smoother when they play.

Reyne is always a threat from deep and after seeing Chucky be more aggressive he can open things up for others once he establishes himself on offense.

We will definitely need to see more Chucky at the PG especially if we don't know the extent of Koren's injury. I do think Reyne's defense is overlooked but he's so streaky. Hot or cold, I don't want to see a repeat of being down 10-0 off the get go.
