I loved Logan Ryan as a Giant (hope they can sign him this summer). Very bright and well-spoken football player. I think he could be a very effective broadcaster when his career ends.

I'm sure Ryan could work in TV or something polished.
Unfortunately I thought his NYG career ended because of this play

Agreed. He's a very bright and impressive guy. Could be a broadcaster, as you said, or a lawyer, or an entrepreneur, pretty much whatever he wants.

What a great find he was for RU and he seems like a great representative of the school since he's been gone.

Everything you stated. 4* from South Jersey who Greg brought in. Stud on and off the field. 11 of these level recruits and RU is competing for a conference championship. If it were only that easy.

GO RU

I doubt this one play ended his career with the Giants. Cover 2 against several vertical routes is unfair.

He was cut a few games later at season's end.
He went to one more team and didn't make it - fair to see he was done
He had a new contract from 2020 and Giants didn't save money cutting him but did it anyway.
He was getting slower and you could see it on that play (ranked 52nd of 75 safeties in 21).
From better views Ryan saw Jalen Guyton hitting the gas and went to track him early in play - he just couldn't get there.
Maybe he underestimated Herbert but I knew what kind of arm he had and that a bomb was possible with second left in 1st half.

Daboll and Wink saw weakness and didn't want to keep paying an older safety with slower wheels.
I could think that play was a bad one to retire on but at least it keeps the second guessing down.

You can see secondary in this view

Like you said without saying it. That play might have been the final straw in a series of disappointments. It became apparent he was getting slower and the coaches saw this over time.
