I know 10% of their fans but he just doesn't care that much now. He's more likely to talk about the times when USM was a comparable program to Ole Miss and State than their current season. Now that the SEC has tilted the playing field so much against USM, I don't think he can get excited about it.
If you want to be depressed about what MSU getting left out of the conference realignment sweepstakes would be like, hang around an older southern fan.
That said, from a purely selfish perspective, if USM were to beat Houston, I'd hope the voters would drop them down far enough in the polls to keep them out of the BCS games. There's already enough incentive to schedule a powderpuff schedule. Making it to a BCS bowl by beating one top 25 team and going undefeated is bad. Making it after beating one top 25 team and losing to a crappy CUSA team is really inexcusable.
