I think this is where we see the lack of an interior game against top competition. Those are open 3's but if they're not falling, we're not scoring.
I think many of us may need to temper expectations a bit. I thought this before the game started. Tennessee is playing tough defense right now.

This is definitely a wake up call for the players after playing inferior teams. Shot selection is still important and execution is still required.
Tennessee came into this game with a chip after becoming the underdog. Louisville has to adjust and here's an early opportunity to see how PK reacts. He needs to get a handle on the shot selection.

You have to get in the paint or they have no shot. They are being schooled on defense.

Long year but once again the better athletes are on the other team. Common theme for way too long.
This is actually a good thing to get this early wake up. It's always been we have to see what we got with a total new roster. Against low level teams they dominate, but against a ranked team who's motivated, well not so much.
Now they know. Good times running the score up on cupcakes isn't going to do it. The odds makers have to be pissed right now?

Want to see of PK makes any 2nd half adjustments. Not saying it'll be enough for a win but want to see how he and team react to this.
Before anyone thinks more of the same with this group, the one real thing that sets this new team apart from the last two seasons is effort. These guys play hard and go after it. They aren't shooting well but it's not stopped their intensity on defense.
Tennessee has made several tough shots despite great defensive effort by the Cards. That late 10 to 0 run at the end of the half showed Louisville was still going full bore. Never saw that the last two seasons.

I do like the effort even being down. Yeah thats supposed to be the minimum but we haven't seen it in years.
Well one thing that never changes is the BS long 3 pointers teams seem to make at the Yum center. That 30 footer with one second left after we cut the lead to 9. Just typical.
I expected more motion and ball movement. Our half court stuff has too much dribbling and not enough screening. Can't beat a team this good doing what they want you to do.
Defense is atrocious. We are playing just like Tammy Wynett sung "Stand By Your Man." In today's NCAAB you either have to play pack line like Virginia or deny the passing lane hard like Pitino. You can't just stand by your man and watch as others get beat off the dribble.
