The LSU situation is a conundrum right now. They have Ed Orgeron as interim and could choose not to hire him as the HC. How much of the existing staff remaining at LSU after the hire will be interesting to see.

LSU has two coaches that I would love to see at UK, Coach Orgeron and DC Dave Aranda. They could also bring back a great recruiter Bradley Peveto
This is the second stint of interim coaching for Orgeron. His first stop was a USC. He was also the head coach of Ole Miss 05-07.

I think if LSU decides not to keep its current staff, there will be a lot of great coaches out there to poach, as long as Alabama stays out of it.

Aranda's the hot young DC, they'll be pressed to keep him. Oregron/Peveto neither will be retained IMO. The AD's a Dukie so he'll need lots of help finding a football coach.

Orgeron would have a chance if he could run the table the rest of the season, but that is a longshot at best. Many thought Peveto would get the ax when Cameron & Miles were canned. They are not happy with their special teams.
Aranda is a hot commodity, I agree they will probably try to retain him.

You don't run off a national championship winning coach unless you have big plans.

LSU is feeling out the best of the best. Urban Meyer, Chip Kelly, Bobby P, Jimbo, Dabo, Tom Herman, maybe Gruden.

After that they'll call Bob Stoops, Dantonio, Chryst, Petersen, Shaw.

If all those guys say no, then they'll hit up Gary Patterson, Brohm, Fleck and an assortment of top assistants.

Urban Myer- I don't see him leaving Ohio St.
Chip Kelly- don't see him leaving the 49ers
Petrino- I think if left Louisville his wife would probably divorce him.
Jimbo- maybe but doubtful
Dabo- may be waiting for Saban to retire
Herman-possible depends on what other jobs open like Texas
Stoops- to old I believe plus is Oklahoma team isn't setting the world on fire.
Chryst- just don't see him leaving Wisconsin
Dantonio- maybe
Peterson- don't see him leaving Washington, think he likes it out west.

Watch LSU hire Lane Kiffin. They will be turned down by most coaches because they are either settled or unwilling to take it on late in their career. Petrino should have waited it out a few years and he'd be the prime cadidate. He cannot afford to make a coaching move for at least 3 more seasons. Probably longer than that.

Lane will be the guy standing. Good enough for LSU and not good enough for 50% of the U.K. Football fanbase. It's hilarious. Not as funny as Strong coming to uk as an assistant under stoops though, that's probably my favorite right now.

God it's sad.

If you want to start a dumpster fire with a nuke hire Orgeron. I can't believe anyone who isn't tripping on shrooms would mention his name.

No not Coach O trust me . Go find my Coach O thread I posted maybe last week. Trust me we do not want him. 10- 25 record 3 years at Ole Miss. Seriously go read my Coach O post lol. Ine of the funniest stories I have ever heard. No way I want him as headcoach oh hell no! I like his fire though.

Some very good coaches you mention, but I would remove Chip Kelly from the first tier. I'd like to see Bobby P. go south. Just my opinion!

something occurred to me about Texas and Hermann. probably not original:

1. Texas wants Hermann
2. Houston wants to keep him, and hopes that an invite to the Big 12 would make that happen
3. It's widely thought that Texas owns/runs the Big 12
4. Houston, therefore, won't be getting an invitation to join the Big 12

Still think Herman is NFL bound.

Interesting list....

Meyer = No....can't believe he would even be mentioned by anyone. Might as well mention Saban as a candidate.

Kelly = No....but he might head back to Oregon.

Bobby Neckbrace = No....he has to work for someone who is as big of a shitbag as he is and will give him free reign to sign whatever discarded trash that is available. There isn't another school out there who gives him that.

Jim Bob Fisher = Long shot, but possible.

Herman = Definite possibility. Probably depends on the Tejas situation.

Gruden = [laughing]

Big Game Bob = Possible....he won't be fired, but he and OU may have a mutual parting of ways after this year.

Dantonio = Might consider it, but health has been questionable and the LSU job isn't for the faint of heart.

Dabo = Probably a Clempson lifer who wouldn't consider any other job but Bammer.

Chryst = Would probably crawl down the Mississippi River shoreline to Baton Rouge for the job if offered.

Petersen = Not leaving UDub for any amount of money. This is a dude that money doesn't mean everything to. Great situation at UDub too.

Shaw = Might leave for an NFL job some day. Great situation for him at Stanford. Not coming to LSU.

Patterson = Not leaving TCU. If he was, he already would have.

Brohm = No....Most of Taggart's players are gone, and he's suddenly 3-3. If he would have had a job offer somewhere last year, he would have probably taken it.

Fleck = Absolutely a candidate.

Others......

Ed O = No shot aside from running the table and winning a bowl game.....and wouldn't that be touching hilarious?

Lanie Kiffin = Desperation move....has been a failure as a HC at all three stops. Some guys are never going to be more than good assistants.

Pat Fitzgerald = Would take the job, and they could do a lot worse. Does a pretty solid job at what is probably considered one of the B1G's toughest jobs in terms of facilities, etc.

Mike MacIntyre = No idea what his buyout is, but I would absolutely gauge his interest.

Briles = Probably untouchable/unhireable for the time being.
