for some people to understand why mixing up the uniform a few times a yearis a good thing.

This isabout the players and rewarding them. If they get enjoyment from wearing a certain uniform one game a year, then who the hell am I or any fan to ***** about it. It's unreal that some people get so bent out of shape from the players getting any enjoyment out of this.

The only thing that should make them happy is winning games. Enjoying the uniforms they wear makes every dang one of them worry more about fashion and less about winning. I guarantee you that the kids are sitting there right now ignoring their playbooks and just dreaming about these stupid uniforms. We should all laugh at how dumb they are.

Or at least that is what I've learned on this board lately.

I remember my highschool baseball coach had a strict dress code (for practice & games). As a reward for the seniors during the last few games or during the playoffs, he'd bend the rules a little& let guys do little stuff like pull their pants legs up, wear a pair of flashy shoes, etc. I can't say it helped us play any better, but it was a nice gesture from coach to player.

That's the way I see these uniforms. If it does anything to make the players or recruits more excited about playing for us, then it's a good thing. We all know that a football season can be a drag when you get 10 weeks in from the start of fall practice and the season isn't quite going as expected. Stuff like this can provide a little excitement for the players and maybe give them a little motivation during the last few weeks of the season.

The year they won the National Championship, they wore different uniforms for the Tulane game. Then sold them for charity.

They talked about how much money it raised for the University selling new apparel. They talked about how the players loved it and recruits noticed it. They interviewed players that said how pumped they got before games wearing these new uniforms. It's really not that hard to understand.

I've always liked a uni switch up now and then.

might be surprised at how little 18-22 yr olds really care about alternative uniforms. That they do is a perception created to sell merchandise, and it works. However, those that actually buy the stuff are the same guys that wear jerseys to games. The "it's what the kids want" is a self-perpetuating myth.

Sure, the players interviewed say they like the look and all and some will tweet about it. The reality is, as long as the base uniform looks good, then they are satisfied.

Now I cannot go into exactly how many players on the team enjoy wearing these uni's and think it's "cool," but I guarantee it's more than one.

i.e. we always lose, we don't play well, etc etc. Same goes for when we have worn the white helmets, different logo, etc. I'm not taking a stand either way, just funny how now its a good thing for LSU to do it but when we have done it in the past it was turrrrrible

I noticed a lot of the same people in this thread making fun of the people who really believe that the black jersey's are cursed. Nothing different is going on.

opposing teams where special uniforms (Georgia's "blackout" turned into a coma before the half)!

As Coach Stallings says, "If you're worrying about how good you'll look, you're not concentrating on the game".

let me try to simplify the Old Fart Theory as best as I can. Old Farts understand the marketing side of the SWACing of uniforms, we just dont like it. Is that simple enough?? It doesnt have anything to do with smarts, because we have plenty....we graduated from State just as you did. We just didnt go to school in the SWAC and dont want to look like we did either. Rewards, top teams, whatever your argument....its just a taste thing...I like my maroon and white, its that simple,

Signed,

The Anti SWAC Uni Old Fart

PS....gonna sit back now and watch the repsonses stack up....should be some good reading.

So the players are brainwashed into liking the pro-combat uniforms because of the uniform marketing phenomenon. Unbelievable

are rather traditional. So why you want to undermine your argument with your SWAC comments is beyond me. Additionally, when I read "SWACing of uniforms," I picture somebody in a bow tie waving a rebel flag in the grove.

Only SWAC school I've seen personally that seemed to get a little extravagent with their uniforms is probably Grambling... Everyone else just looks like a traditional college team.

Others have pointed out that most SWAC uniforms are pretty traditional. I really don't think I'm taking a huge leap in assuming you don't like it because you
see it as something that appeals to young black males, who you probably consider thuggish.

It worked for NASCAR. That should ease your concerns.

1.. Rambis---the Croom unis were actually a replication of the uniforms that were worn during the Tyler and early Bellard ers...which were some of our more successful years, thus all of us Old Farts calling them as close as we have to traditional.....were they the best looking???, thats up for discussion, but they were as close to traditional as weve had. I also liked the Sherrill unis, but Nike owned that look since LT couldnt negotiate worth a damn. I lliked them minus the helmet and the MState banner.....just not a fan of the white hat nor the banner, but thats just me. If you liked it, then more power to you as you are definately entitled to your own opinion. That being said, I like the uniforms we have now. The white pants with the maroon jersey is great. Now Im not a big fan of the matte helmet....I think it looks like an inverted bowl of chocolate pudding.

2.Futaba (wasnt that the virus in the movie Outbreak wtih Dustin Hoffman) that just doesnt make any sense. I said nothing about JState....I said SWAC and most of the unis in the SWAC are hideous. JState has the best uni in the SWAC.

like a bad *** and then getting your *** kicked when the game starts is embarrassing andreally just doesn`t appeal to me. The difference in us and LSU, in case you haven`t noticed, is thatthey really arebad asses and not bad *** wannabees like us.

If we`re going to get in peoples faces with our unis let`s do it when we can back it up . The way we`re doing this uni stuff now makes it look like we think there is some mythical uni combo that will make us a better team and it is making us look likefools because it has failed every time.

It's notmeant to appeal to you. It's meant to appeal to the players (and recruits, to a lesser extent), the uniforms that is. This has nothing to do with you, me, or anyoneelse.
