I wondered if they might be even better than we thought based on their close loss at Purdue and the way the Boilers have been showing out.

Guess so.

I feel if this team continues to work and improve on the "little" things, we will be a very dangerous team in Feb/Mar. I like the energy and hustle in what I've seen, and -- barring injuries -- we are seriously eyeing the dance at the end of the regular season.

Marquette almost matched their total against State (55) by halftime (51) tonight. Golden Eagles up by 26 currently.

So many college teams playing that NBA type scrimmage pseudo defense.

Marquette won 96-70. That Marquette win could be a huge win that pays big dividends for us down the road.

I had picked us to lose to Marquette and Minnesota in my preseason predictions. So, in my mind we're one up in the equation. Now let's see how we do at Minneapolis.

I think it just goes to show that defense is underrated and offense is overrated. One sells tickets the other wins the actual games. We can shoot 25% as a team from deep and still get an 8 seed I think.

If Marquette can keep themselves in the top 50, that would be a much needed non-conference Quad 1 win.

We may be able to get away with 1 Q1 and 3 Q2 (Utah, Drake, Akron) nonconference games.

I've watched NBA for 40 years. It's a scrimmage now compared to what it once was. A long distant shooting contest.
Buy yourself a court side seat at your nearest NBA venue and I think you’ll find guys working their asses off on the defensive end.

Whether it’s now or 25 years ago, some casual observer is always going to say “they don’t play defense in the NBA”.

Yeaaaah.....that's not true.

I'm not a Cohen loyalist but let's be factual here. You've now outed yourself as someone with zero inside knowledge.
Weird they all flew to Las Cruces after Jans won the WAC tournament. Just a coincidence. Go back and look at my posts, I knew who we were hiring the week before Howland got canned. But go off, Goat.

Defense is elite in the NBA but so is the shooting. If a team doesn’t play good defense they will get their asses handed to them on any given night.
