The fanbase and former players wanted Petrino in 2012 and Matt had the opportunity to sit down with the man and hear his side of the story. Instead he chose to be Mitch Barnharts puppet and go on the radio and constantly bad mouth Petrino in hopes of turning the fanbase against him - and now look at what we are stuck with.

Matt, who describes himself as a bleeding heart liberal, already feels sorry for people like Ryan Lochte who caused an international incident, but chose to sit up in his ivory tower and cast judgements on Petrino. Matt has said several times that bad football = good radio, he wants no part of a successful football program because he doesnt have the ability to talk about the sport in an intelligent manner. Saying the football team sucks and calling for coaches to be fired is really the only thing he knows how to do, all he is interested in is ratings and website hits and he knows a coaching search is great for both.

Hasn't he said good football equals good radio?

I don't see how he is to blame for anything.

Stoops was a good hire at the time and his lack of development as a head coach should go to the AD before anyone else.

He took Arkansas to the Sugar Bowl. Let that sink in for a moment.
He hired the woman he was having an affair with, almost killed her and got an Arkansas state trooper to lie about it. Opened the athletic department up to about a dozen lawsuits that could have bankrupted the thing. He was unhirable (Being hired by Scandal University that is in jeopardy of losing its accreditation and under investigation for strippers squirting to the ceiling is NOT evidence to the contrary).

Dallasg23 walks into hell, looks around and remarks "it is an honor to be surrounded by so many winners!"
Well if you base the occupants of hell on whether they cheated on their wives then yeah I'll definitely be surrounded winners. Lots and lots of winner. I can't wait to see all the Super Bowl rings and national championships

This has got to be sarcasm.

When your football team has a life times worth of failures, you need to throw all your moral fortitude out the window and hire a guy who can win football games. Then after that you can hire a saint to clean the image up.

Or keep your dignity and hire a guy who can win football games. Not mutually exclusive.
Well be sure to let me know when they do that. Because I haven't seen it since 2008. And at this point does Kentucky football have any dignity left? We lost to southern miss fro Christ sakes lol

Matt Jones didn't name our FB field after an Alabama basketball coach.
---
God, that still hurts....C.M. Newton Field....that's just "So Kentucky Football". I absolutely despise Jones & most of the writers on his blog, but the OP's theory is just idiotic.

He is wrong to blame Matt though. Matts a radio voice and an important one, but he ain't the one calling the shots.

I'd rather lose than have Petrino.
And here we have a Peegs poster. I cited all of calipari's issues at UM the other day and quieted this down a bit. Most people were only aware of a few stripped seasons. Cal has done great and so can others with UK's recourses and family atmosphere. Could Petrino? Don't know. Is it worth the gamble? Uh, are you watching UK football?
