I believe the part about UK not wanting Petrino. But Petrino supposedly begging MJ for an interview and he says no, and he's just now revealing that info? Not buying it.

It's just hard to believe someone that makes their living talking wouldn't have talked about this until now? Even a lot of UK fans complain he talks about ul to much and your telling me he wouldn't have said something about this until now?

If you take Matt jones at face value for everything he says you're an idiot. The guy has been shown to lie time and time again. Especially in recruiting where he has no knowledge at all. But if you discredit everything he says about the inner workings AT UK then you're an idiot also. He's got some connections to the program

Did this happen? Maybe. I could easily see it. I could also see him just wanting to promote himself.

No, because he was coaching in the SECW. UK is in the SECE. Entirely different animal. It's like comparing a pit bull to a parakeet.

Who do you hire?

Joker and Stoops were coordinators and failed.

Curry was a successful at GA Tech and Alabama and failed.

Mummy was successful at Valdosta and ultimately failed.

Brooks had modest success

Well UK needs to hire a winner, I don't care if he is a good guy or not. I'd prefer he be a good guy, but if he wins and doesn't get in trouble with the NCAA idc honestly.

Not that this matters here, but this is a sticking point for me. The above is a bit of a myth. Bill Curry's combined record at GT and Bama was an impressive 57-53 with (1) Sun Bowl win, (1) All-American Bowl win and 1 split SEC title to his credit. He won 10 games at Bama once. Just like Bryant did. Just like Perkins did. Just like Stallings did. Just like DuBose did. Just like Franchione did. Just like Shula did and just like Saban does.

*Mike Price did not win 10 games at Bama.

Not that I would want Petrino as a coach, but what you say is very true.

I've seen him caught up several times. I've seen him be baited and fall for it back in 2009. If you were on TBK you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. He's not a recruiting guru at all yet tries to portray himself as someone who has inside knowledge. He's not always truthful at all and on another note His politics are pitiful. Not wanting Petrino shows what a hypocrite he is.

I listen from time to time for program information because in my experience and opinion that's where he's got some ground. Like this instance with Petrino.

I see you didn't list one actual lie. If you don't like him, fine. If you think he's wrong a lot, fine. But if you're going to say he lies a lot, give some proof.

Like I said he was baited by frosty back when TBK was around and fell for it. False recruiting information was laid out for him and he took it and ran with it. Proving he was lying about where his information was coming from. If you weren't there then you didn't see it. Happened on two different occasions that I'm aware of. Unless you think I'm a liar, what's the problem? He got caught, lied, and that was that.

Do I really care at this point? No. He's not a recruiting insider. I know that. I accept it. But his die hards won't.

As I said, I'm not a regular to his program because his politics are trash. He's out of line. And not wanting Petrino proves to me his a hypocrite. He supports people who've done far worse for women's rights and potential rape victims. He supports scum.

I give credit Where I think it's deserved, regarding his program information, but outside of UK, it's slim. He's done ok for himself and as long as he promotes UK and lays off the back stabbing of UK fans I'm ok.

Hey hang on there, that basketball coach ultimately hired a football coach that got us put on probation. So he did have at least one football accomplishment.

I listen to Matt Jones consistantly, and he has mentioned on his show, more than once, that he was asked by Petrino to be interview to lobby his case, because he wanted the UK job. He was told by a source that no matter if he interviews him or not, he was not getting the job. You don't have to believe him. He has been asked many times on his radio show since Stoops has been here, why didn't Barnhart hire Petrino, and he has told this same story. So this is not New info.

On the post game show last night he said the part about Petrino asking him for the interview was the first time he has ever told that part of the story.

Exactly. He said he entertained the thought and was told there was no way in holy hell Barnhart was going to hire him so it would be a waste of everyone's time. How is that his fault?

Quite on the contrary, as another poster noted, I think Matt Jones has been invaluable because his interview with Stoops last year exposed Stoops' inflexibility and defensiveness. It was the first time I had a little distaste for Stoops. It was an odd exchange and foreshadowed problems to come.

If UofL wins a ACC or heaven forbid a NCAA championship in the next couple years Matt and Mitch both deserve a ring, they had as much to do with it as anyone.

This. Matt told the ebtire story and was told in no uncertain terms that Petrino would never be hired here by the administration. What exactly was the point of this thread?

You know that Petrino's father or another relative contacted Barnhart asking for an interview. Barny said nay. That was revealed prior to him going to WKU.
