Because he is the best we have (apparently). I have read numerous times that the coaches see these players in practice and knows who can play and who can't.

I do not believe that at all with him clearly being better from the staff. We also saw with Pringle when he come in and took the place of Elam on the line. Pringle is hundred times better than he is but he did not see hardly any clock until Elam got hurt. after he got some clock the whole world saw the truth and the truth was Pringle is a defensive lineman and Elam it's just a body.
so who else is sitting on the sidelines waiting to play that is much better than the starter?

Love just is about a step slow and about 15-20 lbs light. Just not enough strength to make up for the lack of speed.
Apparently he is a great kid, captain of the D, makes the calls, understands his assignments and others.
Sad that we don't have anybody that can spell him some and get some experience. (MLB is tough for a true freshman to come in on)
Shows that we just don't have depth and talent yet on D.

Arm Chair DC here. From my view you want to keep your best players on the field. That means eliminating Love and Elam. So you replace Elam with Pringle. Finding a replacement for Love without a drop off could be hard in the 3-4 defense.

If we changed to the 4-3 defense you could have
DE Bell &Miggins.
DT Pringle and Middleton
OLB- Allen & Jones
MLB- Ware (Hes the most experienced LB and has the size needed)

So now you have 164 tackles total this year. With Love and Elam you have a total of 165 but you could expect more tackles from the MLB position as well as others due to the strength of the front 7.

Yes I was being sarcastic toward those posters who always suggest the coaches see everyone in practice and if someone isn't playing its because the coaches no more than we do. There are far too many examples were backups perform better than the starter after having been thrust into action.

Jones at 220 lbs would get blown up at MLB. He is best suited on the edge where he can roam.

THere isn't really that much different in MLB/WLB in the 3-4...both play inside the tackles. Love simply isn't really good at all...but maybe Kash isn't ready. I'd hope by next year Kash can eat into those snaps for Love or move Jones to MLB and Eli Brown take WLB. We can't improve a ton with Love at MLB
