1) New Hanover- seen them for a little bit on Saturday vs Jacksonville, looked good and loaded with athletes. New head coach seems to be struggling with his offense early but they are loaded in the backfield and wr position, I think they will get it together. Ton of seniors are leading the skilled groups, so they should be able to compete. Didn’t see a lot of big guys so hopefully depth doesn’t catch up with them there, but I think they edge of Hoggard this year for the title.

2) Hoggard- we know Hoggard is gonna be well coached every year but they lost a lot of talent on both sides last year. Replacing a very good wr group and all your skilled positions on D is tough for everyone so they need people to step up. QB had a great year last year so let’s see if he can do it this year while having to lead the team.

3) Topsail- program had been getting better and better each year and are hoping to continue the trend this year. They play a pretty easy schedule early on, but have a lot of guys returning from a pretty good team but lack the top end athletes to complete with Hoggard and NH. Stud RB should help them win the rest of conference games.

4)North Brunswick- I think a lot of people will be surprised by NB this year. Coming off a disappointing season, it seems Coach Davis might have something here this year. Few decent athletes in the backfield that can break runs on any given play makes them dangerous. Still lack depth and talent to compete with the big guys in the conference, but I think they turn a lot of heads this year.

5) West Brunswick- solid group coming back, lead by a stud dt. They lack athletes at the skilled positions to compete but they are always solid in the trenches and should push some people around. New coach needs to figure wants he wants out of the offense, so think it’ll be a year or two away before they get it together.

6)Laney- laney is very young this year. Coming off a disappointing season a year ago, it doesn’t look to get any better. Had a few young guys shine in jv but the coaching staff can’t decide on an offense to run so who knows how this will turn out. Predict they struggle most the year.

7) South Brunswick- a well coached team, but lacks the kids to compete every Friday. Just not enough depth throughout the entire roster to make any noise. Should get a W or two from the lower teams, but will have to get lucky to knock off the top.

8) Ashley- lot of uncertainty with Ashley going into this year. New coach was hired late, so don’t really know what to expect. The one bright spot for the eagles is now on NH roster and the other kids lack the skill to compete every week. Should be interesting to see how this program response to a new era, but still think a have a ton of work to do before they can compete.

Hope more can add to this and excited for this season! Let me hear your thoughts!

I think the new Head Coach at Ashley will be fine when he gets his style football there. Question is,where are the atheletes ? Big school that's had really no success in past years. I haven't heard yet but Coach Wilson Helms father Kenny is helping him or not,if he does this will be a big plus on either side of ball. Give him time to build! Hoggard is still team to beat in this conf.
New Hanover always loaded with players.
North Brunswick has been down since Gary left. They should be improved.

Hoggard is the team to beat until someone beats them. Most years NH has the talent to beat them but that doesn't always translate. Hoggard showed good improvement from the 1st scrimmage to the 2nd. They are figuring things out. This conference will come down to Hoggard and NH and whoever is better up front will win.
