Does Trinity go back to the SAA or move to the American Southwest?
They will be the only SAA school in Texas as it currently stands
Southwestern is the Sewanee of the Southwest. They were a charter member of the Southwest Conference and left.
This is a good move for Millsaps. They will start to be more competitive in the SCAC,
as long as Trinity stays in the SAA.
The SAA is a mess. They lost Birmingham Southern to closure and Hendrix left for the SCAC. Now Millsaps and Southwestern are leaving. They picked up Maryville, but word on the street is they aren't happy and they might want back in the CCS.
Oglethorpe does not play football, so the SAA is now below the threshold to have an auto bid to the playoffs. The NCAA has generally given a year's grace, so if the SAA cannot get a 7th football playing member by 2028, they may not make it.
What makes sense: Trinity and Rhodes to the SCAC, Sewanee, Maryville, Berry, Centre and Oglethorpe to the CCS. That would give the CCS enough football playing teams to have a football championship. Berry, Maryville and Oglethorpe will fit in nicely with the CCS. Sewanee and Centre will possibly go to the SCAC.
