Leaving Big 12

The governing board of the University of Missouri unanimously gave its
chancellor the authority Friday to move the school out of the Big 12
Conference.

Chancellor Brady Deaton was given the power following a
two-day Board of Curators meeting that wrapped up Friday without an
announcement that Missouri is leaving the Big 12, presumably for the
Southeastern Conference.</p>

I hope they end up in the SEC East...

will they get the 9 votes it takes to get an invitation. I think it's close, but they'll wind up getting the votes. And I'm more and more convinced they'll be in the East. It doesn't seem to make sense, but the difference in travel really isn't much either way. Put them in the East and give them Arkansas as a permanent opponent and they'll play 5 of the 7 SEC schools closest to them every year. Plus future schedules don't have to change much at all. Everyone will just drop a cross-division game and add either Missouri or A&M and you're done (of course, Arkansas & USC would drop each other and pick up both Missouri and S&M) and you're done.
