1. Due to drinking and watching LSU-Bammer, I may have seen 5 plays of our game- Anybody care to help me out? Azzuri?<div>2. Alabama is not going to rush for some ungodly amount against us- my guess is we spent half of our prep work on D last week getting ready for Bammer. We will load it up and make them throw the football. And dont forget Maze wont be 100% either.</div><div>3. I dont think there should be a rematch- even thought they are the 2 best teams- LSU has to play in the SEC title game while Bammer just sits around- you cant just reward them for sitting at home and give them another crack at it. Had the game been in BR, then a rematch would have a little merit.</div><div>4. Thank you to Kentucky for proving me correct Saturday. Mississippi is God-awful</div><div>5. Our Sweet 16 run begins tonight- We cover the spread</div>

bama lost its chance at home... but it was the kickers fault ..yeah so what call boise and complain

for all the people down on mullen's recruiting
matt wyatt seems to be in love with most of the rs fr we are just getting to look at ...nick griffin and robert johnson

I think we need to take a step back from mullens recruiting and just enjoy the product on the field. Something that hasn't been done here before when you recruit 22 kids and rs 18 of them and build a strong foundation... high profile kids may not want to be apart of that, but the ones that have came have seemed to work extremely hard... I appreciate the last 3 years of recruiting from MSU.

like our chances. As far as UT Martin I was impressed with their team. I would not be surprised to see them do very well the rest of the year. We appeared to be going through the motions, I hope we will be ready for these next three.

What happens if Arky beats LSU in a couple of weeks? That would mean all 3 teams have one loss to one another. Arky lost to Bama, Bama lost to LSU, and LSU lost to Arky? This would mean the only thing that would break this tie would be BCS standings.

The team played without much effort and it showed. When we executed, we looked like an SEC team playing UT Martin. If we kept our foot on the gas, the game would have taken forever - UT punts, we score in 2-4 plays, repeat.

The only notable thing was we gave up a lot of rushing yards. I attribute it to lack of effort. Defense is about effort and frankly weren't very interested in playing UT Martin the week before Bama.

Farve got more than a few reps. Once he got his "I have to hurl one up for grabs" play out of him, he played well. Although we didn't ask him to do much.

Nick Griffin is a hoss.

UPig doesnt have the people upfront to pull it off...anything can happen of course- but its highly unlikely

Check out the very end (that I put in bold).

B. THREE (OR MORE) TEAM TIE

1. (Once the tie has been reduced to two teams, go to the two-team tie-breaker format.)
2. Combined head-to-head record among the tied teams.
3. Record of the tied teams within the division.
4. Head-to-head competition vs. the team within the division with the best overall (divisional and non-divisional) Conference record and proceeding through the division. Multiple ties within the division will be broken from first to last.
5. Overall record vs. non-division teams.
6. Combined record vs. all common non-divisional teams.
7. Record vs. common non-divisional team with the best overall Conference (divisional and non-divisional) record and proceeding through other common non-divisional teams based on their order of finish within their division.
8. The tied team with the highest ranking in the Bowl Championship Series Standings following the last weekend of regular-season games shall be the divisional representative in the SEC Championship Game, unless the second of the tied teams is ranked within five-or-fewer places of the highest ranked tied team. In this case, the head-to-head results of the top two ranked tied teams shall determine the representative in the SEC Championship Game.

I guess that means that it would swing back to head-to-head .....so LSU

I guess mostly on special teams because I don't remember seeing him on defense more than once or twice. Not sure why we'd play him as a true freshman on special teams unless that'sa promise made during recruiting - that he'd get a shot no matter what.

ETA: We do show playing Devin Fosselman (freshman WR) Saturday which would have burned his redshirt. Strange if true, considering our depth at WR. Maybe it's a typo.

Assume they are all 11-1.
2. LSU beat Alabama who beat Arkansas who beat LSU. Next line.
3. They are all 4-1, next line.
4. Same as #2, and they've beaten everyone else in the division. Next line.
5. 3-0 for all three, Next line.
6. Once again, only losses within the division. Next line.
7. Sigh, next line.
8. BCS (woo-hoo, finally!)

Interesting side note: Mike Leach conjectured some weeks back that divisional tie-breakers should be 1.) Head to head, and 2.) Graduation rate. Had a fairly decent argument regarding student-athletes andacademic institutions.

So, and maybe no one reads this far...

IN THREAD Buy/Sell:

Graduation rate should play a role in determining divisional tie-breakers in college athletics.

has been close for as long as I can remember. If LSU doesn't show up or Arky plays lights out, this scenario COULD happen.

I guess that means that it would swing back to head-to-head .....so LSU

Maybe I am not reading this right, but if Arkansas beats LSU.......I see Bama going to Atlanta.

Arkansas is #8 in the BCS. Two teams in front of them are guaranteed to lose in the regular season - Oklahoma/Okie State and Stanford/Oregon. That puts them 6 at worst. If they beat LSU they could very easily jump LSU. Bama is at 3.

The key seems to be which two are the highest ranked at the end. Will Bama be the lowest of the three SEC teams if they win out and LSU loses a game? I doubt it. If LSU is the lowest ranked of the three (and a late loss can do that), then Bama has the tiebreaker on Arkansas and will certainly be within five spots. If I am reading that right, then Bama would be the winner even if Arkansas was ranked ahead of them.

Arkansas's only shot in a three way tie is for LSU to be ranked ahead of Bama, which they should be since they beat them, but I guarantee you if that plays out and Bama wins out, they will be ahead of LSU which would get the tie down to Bama and Arkansas.

LSU just has to stay ahead of Arkansas because they won't be five spots behind Bama.

OSU and Stanford are both living on borrowed time. BSU is cute but irrelavant. Given 3 teams with one loss, bama is the only worthy opponent forthe NC game. But they will get the **** end of the stickagainon a neutral field with miles so what does it matter.

it looked hellacious on the replay. I can't see him being 100% Saturday. Maze has been a weapon on both special teams and at WR on those f'n bubble screens. When Duron Carter failed to get cleared, that really set Bama back at WR. They knew Jones was gone, but they had no one ready to step in and be that go-to guy. Hanks is a good possession receiver. Their TEs are good. But Kenny Bell pretty much disappears during a game and Brandon Gibson hasn't done **** all year. So they are not likely to get deep on us with what they have at WR.

Where Wilson better have his *** ready is letting somebody go to sleep on Richardson out of the backfield. Dude is stout after the dump off.

Where things could get ugly, in my opinion, is turnovers. It'll get out of hand in a hurry if that happens.

That All-American LT is hurting too. I wouldn't be too surprised to see one or both of those players miss our game. They definitely won't be anywhere near 100% if they do play.

Agree on #3. Bama is easily one of the top 2 teams in the country. But unless there are no other undefeated teams, they don't deserve a second shot at LSU. They had their shot and lost. Too bad. The regular season matters in college football, unlike most other sports.

The only thing of note is;

We played very vanilla on defense. However I still expected our DL to whip their OL. It didn't happen. Later in the game, we played a lot of subs on defense.

Griffin is built like Trent Richardson. Hope he can run like TR.
Neither QB was sharp on their passes. Many late passes it seemed.
I would have allowed either one to play a little longer because of this. Farve needs all the reps he can get. But Russel and Relf needed to prep for Alabama too.

What ifall three teams arewithin 5 spots in the BCS rankings? Because IF Arkansas beats LSU, that's entirely likely.

The rule only says it considers the top two teams, BCS-wise. But that seems capricious and arbitrary.

Of course, I planned on leaving at halftime and watching the Bama game at the tailgate, but as a State fan, I have a hard time tearing myself away from any game that the Dawgs are dominating, gift horses and mouths and such...<div>
</div><div>We were lucky to have extra tickets, so we left at halftime and watched the end of the 1st half, then went back into the game until the 2nd Favre TD. I digress:</div><div>
</div><div>1. It was good to see Relf look like his old self. Granted, I don't think it will work like that vs. Bama, but I think we will all see him rip up one more defense this year after Thanksgiving. </div><div>2. I think Russell's struggles on Saturday are a little overblown. He had some misses, but he also had some great passes. That strike to Bumphis after stepping up into the pocket and letting the route develop was nice. Also that pass in the 1st drive down the sideline was an absolute bullet. To get bowl eligible, we are just going to have to hope for the best efficient mix of these 2 going forward, and I think we will get there.</div><div>3. Favre is a fun player to watch, but I dont think he will beat out Prescott next year. Speaking of Prescott, he looks like a defensive end on the sidelines. </div><div>4. What a night from Arceto Clark. I swear since that Peterson interception he has refused to let someone take the ball away from him. </div><div>5. Good to see Jameon in the wildcat....then he puts the ball on the ground again! We also all got to see Bumphis' arm, and I think he was trying to show how hard he could throw it, because if he would have just floated it to the endzone we would have scored on that play. </div><div>6. As I stated earlier, Robert Johnson looked really good. Really, I think he looks like a quicker version of Malcolm Johnson. He showed great burst. </div><div>7. Ditto on Nick Griffin. You can check RB off your list of concerns from next year. </div><div>8. The safeties without Nickoe and Mitchell looked pretty shaky. I think that had a lot to do with their rushing output (as well as playing the entire 2nd team DL for at least 3/4 of the game). Jay Hughes and Louis Watson arent going to get it done. I hope Dee jumps those guys and hopefully getting Thames back will help. Worst case we can move Banks back there.</div><div>9. That counter pass play that we have run the last 2 weeks is nasty. We ran it for a touchdown to Ricco vs. Kentucky and another big play to Ricco last week. (I would rather it be to Robert Johnson than Ricco) But it is a play that looks like an option to one side, then the QB counters, spins around quickly and throws it the other way, with a wall set up in front of the receiver. Really pretty play. </div><div>10. Glad to see us focus on our best playmakers early and often - Clark/Bumphis/Ballard</div><div>
</div><div>That is about it. I am just hoping that we can come out of this weekend healthy and ready to take on those last 2 games. Arkansas is not unbeatable, especially with our secondary and commitment to stay in front of the receivers. The only thing going against us in that game is history...but that is a pretty big thing in this case. </div>

We definitely need to keep that up.

Jamerson Love looked pretty good. Brandon Mayes Hayes is still terrible. Ditto on what you said, esp. about rob Johnson and Nick Griffin. Malcolm Johnson was breaking open on the long Bumphis play- wish we could get him the ball more. Jay Hughes hasn't impressed all year- surely Arrington/Antoine/someone else will play there next year. I missed the Thames info- is he still in school?
