Guy called in and asked coach about Patrick somebody (can't remember the last name he said) but was talking about Towles. Then asked if he was on the team but claimed to be from NKY originally and kept up with the Bluebirds. Then he asked Stoops about a quote that he attributed to Don Shula that I don't think was a Shula quote and then proceeded to ask if "Mullins" got fired at MSU would he come to KY. Thankfully Tom cut the guy off. What is wrong with people?
I though the question was about Stoops being a moron or troll. Sorry I was about to blast the OP..

Does this show not know about screeners of calls before putting them on with coach?
Sadly yes. Because of the number of prank callers and attention seekers, most call in shows have a 7 second delay between live and radio play. It used to be direct call and talk, then it went to a 2 or 3 second delay.
As folks are getting better at hiding there intentions, the length of delay has had to expand.

Mark Stoops will win enough here that he will only leave when he accepts a better job. He will get another extension next year. Program has not looked as promising in last 40 years.

Boggles my mind why they cant' figure out that they don't have to take live calls to have a talk show. Screen calls, tweets, emails for good, interesting questions and have Tom read them on the air. I know they think they'll be called out for "protecting the coach" or "keeping the real fans from voicing their opinion" but really most of us just want to hear a coherent program that is a little less embarrassing to listen to.
I agree but they don't let through anything that even resembles responsible criticism and questioning and that's a problem.

And yet multiple insulting calls get through each of the last few weeks

Person: "Yes, I'd like to talk to CoachStoops."
Screener "And what would you like to talk about?"
Person: " just wanted to ask him how (player) is progressing in his redshirt year?"
Screener: "Ok, please hang on the line."
.........
Tom Leach: "Taking our next call.... we have (so and so) from (place). You're speaking to Coach Stoops."
Person: "Hi Coach Stoops. If Dan Mullin gets fired, do you think he'll come to Kentucky?"

That's how they screen you (I called in during the Mumme and Tubby era, and haven't called since, but that's how I know how they screen you.... at least back then).

I agree but that's our job!

No I understand it's one of the only chances to ask hard questions as Tom is not always comfortable doing that but he's gotten better at it and unfortunately the ratio of good hard question from the callers to embarrassing mind numbing rambles is about 1 in 20 and that makes it hard to listen to.

A good compromise would be to mix a few callers with read questions by Tom but please at least try to screen the callers and at least try to weed out the mouth breathers. There isn't a law that says just because you got through you have to get on the air.

Sadly, it is all too likely he was dealing with a U of L fan calling from his parents' attic after coming home from standing 8 hours at the grill at Steak n' Shake. The things that must pass for entertainment when you find yourself in that shape at 40, complaining about paying $40.00 week child support.
Hey I happen to really enjoy Steak n' Shake

Fake caller designed to create a charicature of the "toxic" fan you don't want to be. I think he overdid it a little by claiming not to know Towles had transferred. This obscure "toxic" fan has now been discussed on message boards, websites and radio shows.
