Matt LaFleur
until recently, head coach for the Green Bay Packers.
He has served as the quarterback
coach of the Washington Redskins, Notre Dame,
and the Atlanta Falcons and the offensive coordinator
for the Los Angeles Rams and the Tennessee Titans.

His most recent salary was 5-5 million/year. He is available.

Beamer would handle recruiting, boosters etc.
Matt LaFleur would focus is on strategy, playbooks, and game planning

No thanks. The headlines about Matt and the game yesterday against a lowly Panther team are not good. They claim he basically blew the game by not kicking a field goal in the 4th.

Well, this is as wild a suggestion as I've ever seen. He's a currently employed NFL head coach. He's not coming here.

Nevertheless, I would not write off any particular coach for one dumb decision. Every coach out that there has made an in-game decision that blew up and cost them the game.

I do think we need to widen the pool of available candidates beyond college ball. There is a lot of talent in the NFL. Some of that talent will not consider college ball because of the constant pressure of recruiting. So if you can remove that function from their responsibilities- it increases the odds of acquiring that talent. Money talks too.

You seem sincere, but I can’t quite take this seriously

It's the pro football model - where The focus of a head coach is on strategy, playbooks, and game planning.
Recruiting /drafting players/contracts is done elsewhere ie in the GM office (in consultation with the head coach)

With less to focus on a college head coach should be able to do a better job.

One benefit of the pro college model is that it should eliminate need for long term contracts with their outrages buyout dollars.

. The portals are becoming the driver of successful college teams. Team starters from the portals likely don't stay more than 2 years.-
there is no need to keep extending the contract of a head coach , based the premise that he needs to guarantee a player that he will be there for 4 more college years. Besides, NIL money is becoming more of a driver in the equation.

Pro teams typically don't keep extending a head coach contract every. The first contract might be for 4 or five year. They won't renegotiate until the end of that contract.

Some of you live in la la land...

I'm convinced the OP is yanking chains. Because we don't have faith in Beamer to run the program, we would make him the GM over the program? And then convince a current NFL HC to come here?

There are some wild suggestions on here...some coming from me...but this takes the cake.
