I have been watching SMC football for a long time and played back in my day. Murphy has always seemed the same to me. Strong, talented, and well coached. This Murphy team seems to be the same. For the first time in a long time though I have questioned the coaching. I have so many questions about an offense that should be just as good as Robbinsvilles. Why do the coaches seem so set on running Dorsey at wing when he has been largely ineffective all year? It seems like he would be better at slot while moving one of their younger backs to wing. I don’t know the back up wings name but he runs much harder. Murray is a great back, but for the first year in a while I don’t see them subbing much. In years past Murphy has mixed it up in the backfield to keep defenses off balance. They have an extremely fast back in Wood who never touches the field offensively. I watched him chase down Christ Schools running back and tackle him shy of the goal line. Very impressive. Murphy refuses to pass when they were having success in the first half against Christ School. In the 2nd half they didn’t have hardly any offense and threw the ball maybe 2 or 3 times. I think if they don’t start making changes on offense we could see them go 0-2 against Swain and Robbinsville. Nelson has the D clicking on all cylinders but it’s time for Watson to step it up.

Don't know what the man is thinking. Here is a few guesses. He sees the players practice and has a better understanding of how they fit together to make a team. Perhaps he is building a team that he hopes will continue to improve and peak in the playoffs. Maybe he sees great potential in his players but needs to give them experience to nurture that potential. I think he has earned the right to be trusted with his team.

I'm just curious why anyone from Andrews would care about what's happening with Murphy's team? Should probably change the screename to BulldogParent, just saying..

Regardless of you are, I see no reason to question the staff at this juncture. They've been doing this a long time, been through a lot, seen a lot and won a ton of games together. So to put it bluntly they know what the hell they're doing. It's true the production from the wingback position has been underwhelming thus far and #6 probably is better suited for slot reciever in a vacuum, but this isn't a perfect world and clearly the coaching staff feel that it's in the best interest of the team at this time to have the young man there and starting there.

I have the utmost faith (and so should anyone else) that the staff are and will continue to do whatever needs to be done to give this team the best chance to win.

This is some funny stuff a person from Andrews inquiring about Murphy coaches....ahhhhhh Im just kidding we all know you aint from there and your butt is in our bleachers eating popcorn talking about your all world kid whose talent is brazenly overlooked.

Sophomore backs who cant block, cant be trusted to run the ball either. They will get there...in time daddio.

BTW Watson works with qb's....check his track record.
Oh and most of those kids he got as sophomores.....

Last thing....Gentry has over 400 wins.....400....thats 100 times 4 or 10 times 40 or becoming the most winningest coach in North Carolina you are free to pick whichever method/ formula works for you to solve the problem...that is Common Core anyways.

Wait on more thing...you're an idiot.
Fellas, that sophomore back mentioned is mine and since I'm not Wildcat3015, I'd appreciate you letting up on him a bit. He's exactly where he needs to be and should be, I have no illusions about that. I'm personally just enjoying watching him play D.

Murphy is working in some young talent on offense....staff is proven beyond a doubt that they can get a team to gell by the time the leaves change colors and you have to start wearing a coat on friday nights.....unless Im badly fooled you will see some points on the board soon......and Murphy has played some pretty tough defensive teams like Pisgah and Christ school while breaking in some new players.... some years you re just not gonna put up 40 pts per game. but with this defense they probably dont have to.....

Same thought. Why would anyone not affiliated with Murphy's program care enough to start a thread about this?? I mean don't get me wrong in my line of work analyzing and questioning is everything, but Murphy football is something I can never recall ever having to question. At this point in his career I would think Gentry knows what he's doing, but hey to each their own.
