Not sure if we have any on the board or if others may have some beneficial experience.
I have been working with a small army of recruiters over the past few months... Well about 3 to be exact. My line of work is pretty specialized and the positions within the sector I am looking are fairly limited so I figured it would behoove me to cast a pretty wide net.
Anywho, so I'll provide a timeline below and would like some advice on how to handle this.
Last Thursday: "Recruiter A" calls me and says a candidate took a counter offer. As such, an opportunity previously thought to be filled was back on the table and he immediately thought of me when he found out. He wants to get my stuff over to the hiring manager ASAP. I tell him go for it.
Saturday: "Recruiter B" calls and says the same thing and that it was his candidate that backed out. I tell him about my conversation with "Recruiter A" and I wasn't sure how to handle this. He said he would talk to the hiring manager.
Monday morning: "Recruiter B" calls and says the hiring manager would like to see me and he had not mentioned anything about "Recruiter A" to the hiring manager yet. So we set up a interview for Thursday and I figure I'll just let sleeping dogs lie with respect to the other recruiter.
This morning: "Recruiter A" calls and I screen it. Then he sends me an email saying that he wants to talk to me and get on the same page before my meeting with the hiring manager. So evidently the hiring manager told him that we have a meeting set up but maybe didn't tell him that it was "Recruiter B" that did the legwork on that.
That's pretty much how I left it at this point. I haven't replied back to "Recruiter A". Not sure how to proceed with him... Anyone have any advice?
