Sets the program back to what exactly? Not making bowls? Getting embarrassed by CUSA schools? Having a D that is learning to line up properly? Having a Juco QB have more wins than the starter? Losing 30 in a row to UF? Do you honestly think another coach coming in couldn't maintain that type of amazing success?

And as far as showing no committment...that's how SEC FB schools operate. You win or you GTFO. I'd rather us start to at least act like we belong instead of this special needs SEC football program.

Bravo Bravo Bravo!!! We may as well take down the scoreboards and sing glory, glory hallelujah

Thanks for the post-Claiborne coaching synopsis (May he Rest In Peace). Curry should've been fired after the 1-10 fiasco in'94. Instead Newton let him call coach two more years. That extra two years really provided a lot of stability. (Looking at you EZBLUE1).

I'm not disagreeing with anyone. Just seems like our fan base always thinks "next up" is the best option. I don't see it that way, nor am I a "sunshine pumper" as some on here seem to say about anyone who isn't a "Fire them all." I think my point is valid, we have not had success at firing any coach after three/four years.
Thanks for having the conversation with me.

Hahahaha!!! So because I am not on the bash Stoops train, I am now some sort of everything is ok guy??

Read my posts. I have said many times that I am not sure that Stoops is the answer yet. But I don't know that he isn't either. I see past the coach is the problem excuse all the time.
Huh?

Why is Brooks listed as another UK coach that we complained about until we got him off the job? Brooks did a very solid job and basically at his advanced age (and lack of Mitch giving him facility upgrades) just retired. Brooks is nothing close to Curry, Joker or Stoops...who are all three same level of bad coaches.
People were calling for his head.

Good lord I cant handle the sunshine pumping on thus board!!
Buck, then never go to the call-in shows. I swear they screen only pumpers and once in a while they have a couple of "fake" plants to help the ratings.

So no one has a real answer? Everyone has sarcasm but no solid reasoning.

My thoughts, firing Stoops actually sets the program back and shows no commitment. He gets a minimum of one more year to get to the magical 6 wins. If he doesn't, then we look. However, I'm not sure any coach is going to give is what we want.

When has Kentucky prematurely ran off coaches? 90% of the time you will know whether or not it will work out with a coach within three years. You shouldn't be getting walloped by multiple teams in your conference if you are moving in the right direction. We have gotten beat down pretty bad against UT, UGA, Florida, and Louisville in years three and four.

Brooks had a decent run here, but the difference with him and Stoops is that he did have previous results as a head coach to justify a year or two more. Even with him though, recruiting tailed off pretty bad at the end and he didn't leave it in great shape.

I think you actually can't afford to ride in mediocrity here hoping it works out. MB needs to only reward actual on the field results and not get stuck with poor coaches that he can't move out. Petrino or even Leach would of been so much better hires than this mess.

They only two options you have here is to either hire a proven coach with a little baggage or hope to find a head coach from a small conference. The Stoops name was hot a decade ago and for some reason no other program was interested in the Stoops that is here.

To the post about joker we was on a downward trend. Four straight bowls to a losing bowl game at Pitt to not making one the next year then moving to 2-10.

With stoops we have kinda been on a upward trend. 2 to 5 to 5 (coulda been more with some Tennessee bounces). One year not moving in right direction is not a trend as talent varies from year to year and we are very young with key players. But multiple years in same path shows the direction of the program. I think the first three years and improvement from day one of the team, stoops deserves one more year to show if he is right for the job. And a compete roster of his players. Have said all along year five was year to judge and not going away from that. Now he don't produce next year I'm all for moving on. But next year could also be an eight win season and allow us another good step to build on while returning experience for the following year.

Stoops getting it turned around is what's best for the program. Not a flash and the Pan and getting hot one year. We need a football program built from the ground up (Brooks took lumps with a young Woodson, Woodyard group) and it payed off by weathering the storm. That is best if long term success. I think stoops would stay for a while if we become successfull
Sorry MS is not going to get it done if he stays here 10yrs! It's about philosophy

I'll bet next year we are no better than 5-7 if that.
