Yes. Is that your reason? Is this a serious question?
Hahahaha!!! So because I am not on the bash Stoops train, I am now some sort of everything is ok guy??Guys, just stop and support these guys. Mitch is doing the best he can. The multi million dollar ESPN and SEC deals are better suited for science labs. Let Louisville have both sports and take the state as the darling team! Who needs them! Who needs fans that want to win? It's so domineering an controlling.
Barnhart has great Vision and morals. Let's just enjoy the Nike uniforms and Chrome things. Support this team and coach. In 3 more years I'd bet money we get to see some kind of bowl. If not winning 5 games in the SEC is really exciting, even if 1 of the 5 is actually against an SEC team.
We got to share the same field as Alabama yesterday. We're making history in our own way.
Some of you that keep talking this winning nonsense are the worst. You have an agenda.
@merrimanm is this pretty close to what you want to hear?
He's right. Winning is overrated and so stressful. Let's just relax, enjoy the season, and let other schools deal with the pressure of winning. Can we at least get a participation trophy or something?Guys, just stop and support these guys. Mitch is doing the best he can. Especially the chrome things. All the kids are getting chrome things these days.and Nike uniforms and chrome things.....
On the other hand, the coaches graveyard is running out of room. An allocation of funds may be needed for expansion. So no one has a real answer? Everyone has sarcasm but no solid reasoning.
My thoughts, firing Stoops actually sets the program back and shows no commitment. He gets a minimum of one more year to get to the magical 6 wins. If he doesn't, then we look. However, I'm not sure any coach is going to give is what we want.
Six wins in his fifth season is magical? No wonder we suck at football. So no one has a real answer? Everyone has sarcasm but no solid reasoning.

It would only set the program back if you make the wrong hire. Would you have been in favor of giving Joker more time after that 40-0 debacle to Vandy in front of 15,000 fans? Don't answer that....So no one has a real answer? Everyone has sarcasm but no solid reasoning.

I assumed would no that was sarcasm. "magical"Six wins in his fifth season is magical? No wonder we suck at football.

As another poster whom I respect pointed out on another thread, Jurich fired Kragthorpe by end of year three, and UL seem to be doing OK at the moment.
I think just about everybody wanted Stoops to succeed when he was hired. If 14-27 is your definition of success, then I don't know what to tell you. Unfortunately the terms of his contract will almost guarantee him another year whether he deserves it or not.
Sets the program back to what exactly? Not making bowls? Getting embarrassed by CUSA schools? Having a D that is learning to line up properly? Having a Juco QB have more wins than the starter? Losing 30 in a row to UF? Do you honestly think another coach coming in couldn't maintain that type of amazing success?
And as far as showing no committment...that's how SEC FB schools operate. You win or you GTFO. I'd rather us start to at least acting like we belong instead of this special needs SEC football program.
Rationalizing mediocrity is a conservative point of view. I would say the 1% of the total fan base who post on here reflect their thoughts (clear or fogged by beverages of choice) mandate their losing attitude toward the football program as more personal than reasonable which is prevalent across our living landscape. Its amazing the excuses you see people post on here trying to rationalize mediocrity.
Ukalum1988: You are correct, UL did fire a coach after year three, lots of programs have. They just aren't Kentucky. For whatever reason, firing a coach has NEVER worked for us. Yet, that is always the answer that everyone gives.
BlueRunner11: Seriously? How can we complain about not competing in the SEC and then say we are just like every other program? 30 years in a row isn't a Stopps issue. So you are saying fire another coach then hire another coach and we may get the same results.
Thats where my questions comes from.
I feel you give a coach a couple years and if they don't perform, you roll the dice again. Eventually, even Mitch may get lucky and land a decent coach. Other SEC schools operate the same and wouldn't put up with 4 years without a bowl from a coach so why do we?
Here's why, because the mentality is that no one wants to coach here and no one can win here and I believe that's BS to get fans, ticket holders, boosters, etc to accept mediocrity. It's not that Mitch doesn't want to win. He does. It's that Mitch doesn't HAVE to win and that's a problem.
Keeping stoops to long could also set the program back as well, if he isn't the right coach for our program. I think that is a common trend from our programs past that needs to end.So no one has a real answer? Everyone has sarcasm but no solid reasoning.

This makes more sense. For some reason my question turned into a gripe session on mediocrity. I tailgate with 30 plus people every weekend and haven't missed but four home games in the last 18 years. Coaching change seens to always be the answer yet we haven't had any shirt term success with that. Everyone wanted Brooks fired if I recall correctly.
I am in the we are improving boat. I wanna see how the season plays out before i fire him. You cant fire him if he goes bowling.
I disagree with you. Two years? lol I know your being sarcastic but still. In year three, were you impressed by our team that barely beat EKU? That same EKU staff got fired after last season. If stoops gets us to a bowl game then he deserves more time. Another 4 or 5 win season , I think we should find a new coach.Who had too much time that I'm missing? I'm not sure our program is setup for a two year rotation of coaches. Curry?

Let's petition the NCAA so the Cats can become Bowl eligible at 3-9 give Stoops a lifetime contract, and give Barney raises, and lifetime contract. They are good people, and deserve it. If by chance they go 2-10 we will look the other way, maybe we just can all just be happy going to a Bowl every 5 years under the new plan. Just be thankful they even would sell you a ticket. You microwaves really expect to much, and are such a pain this time of year. Thank goodness for Basketball.
And a team that's forever young and inexperienced.and Nike uniforms and chrome things.....
Thanks for the post-Claiborne coaching synopsis (May he Rest In Peace). Curry should've been fired after the 1-10 fiasco in'94. Instead Newton let him call coach two more years. That extra two years really provided a lot of stability. (Looking at you EZBLUE1).We fired Curry because he sucked and he had plenty of time not to.
We fired Mumme because we had no choice. He was cheating and put us on probation.
We didn't fire Morris. We didn't match an offer from Baylor.
We didn't fire Brooks. He retired.
We fired Phillips because he took our program from the most stable footing anyone here had inherited and unraveled it quickly.
We haven't fired Stoops yet.
Not exactly the coaching carousel of unwarranted dismissals some act like.
