Hap and Leonard -- WATCH IT. Very promising. Stars Michael Kenneth Williams (Omar from The Wire and Chalky from Boardwalk Empire), James Purefoy (star of the mostly lame The Following, but a good actor, and Christina Hendricks, late of Mad Men.

1st episode aired last night, but is available streaming online.

The Hap and Leonard books by Joe R. Lansdale are fun reads.

I heard some Dallas radio guys panning the first episode yesterday. Said it was terribly written and they have already written it off.

I think it's only 6 episodes. I'm not claiming it's the 2nd coming of Breaking Bad, but looks promising as a decent show. Michael Kenneth Williams, in particular, was really good in the 1st episode.

I've seen the ads for it. I will give it a try. Speaking of things I've seen ads for, is anyone else intrigued by The Night Manager? AMC miniseries starting in April and featuring House as an arms dealer.

I am definitely. I'm admittedly a sucker for spy books and shows though.

I caught the first 3 episodes, kind of reminds me of characters from an Elmore Leonard novel.

Definitely liked what I've seen so far.

I didn't realize the author of the book series (Lansdale) wrote one of my favorite "cult-classic" B Movies - Bubba Ho-Tep.

Unfortunately, most of his early books got very limited printings and I'm having a hard time finding the earlier Hap & Leonard books for less than $15 for a used paperback edition.
