Steve Stone predicts the pitch too but he just looks at the signs the catcher is giving the pitcher before the pitch

Not always. Sometimes he uses how the ball was fouled off, or the batters swing to get an indication of the follow up pitch. For example, you know off speed (curve or change depending on pitcher) is coming when a fastball is fouled straight back.

After thinking about this for a while I am in favor of the NFL adopting college football OT rules but to increase the entertainment value I would add all football's used in OT must be greased first.

If Brady doesn't like them at Max pressure, he certainly won't like this idea.

I was just going to post another site that had the Laser Pointer story. Childish and there could be some severe penalties if they are caught.
The chances of anyone being caught for this are probably as good as the odds of me getting eaten by a shark in Illinois.

Actually you have it a little wrong. What he usually says based on the preceding pitch is what he would do. He can say, look for this, so you are partly right.

Wanting to change the overtime to make sure both teams have an offensive possession seems to me to be antithetical to the tired old military cliches that surround the game of football.

"Bill, I know you just scored, but we need to give Andy a chance as well. Everyone gets a turn."

Why does it work at every other level of football? This isn't about participation trophies. Someone will still lose...

That's true. And it's not like war and football are apples to apples anyways. In war we don't put out the best 11 offensive troops and best 11 defensive troops and call in 5 neutral parties to monitor and keep things above board. If one army has triple the number of troops and big ole guns, "all is fair in love and war" as they say. Old military cliches be damned.

Edit- I still don't like the college rules though, re: my earlier point of not dramatically changing the gameplay/rules in extra periods. Baseball and basketball are good in this regards (though baseball is experimenting with their own dumb extra innings ideas). Most other sports stink (i.e. Shootouts, college foorball OT)

If you are talking about NHL shootouts, a lot has changed where those are concerned.

When you had 5 on 5 in the 5:00 OT you had a lot of shootouts because much of the ice was occupied and it was rare to see a shooter all alone on a goaltender. So, it led to a lot of shootouts.

Now, you have 3 on 3 which is a world of difference. Plenty of open ice which creates a lot of shooters alone on goalies. There are nowhere near the shootouts there used to be.

The other factor is, both teams may have travel after the game and play the next night. So, 5 on 5 can lead to more than one OT, which would mean intermission between OTs. It is ok in the playoffs because you will at least have an off day the next day. It's rare when they don't. But there is no intermission between the end of the game and OT during the regular season.

I like the NHL rule the way it is.

I know this is not popular amongst American sports fans, but in the regular season, I'll just take the tie then.

NFL OT Shootout

7 on 7???

Also kind of like the idea in OT if you are penalized in OT, that person goes to the penalty box for 2 minutes and their team has to play short handed. No yards or downs penalized in OT.

Oh Lord NOOO! I don't know if you realize this. But there used to be waaaay too many ties in the NHL. It wasn't just the fans. The players didn't like it either. I was all in when they went to OT.

Don't care. Just a personal preference that the idea of ties don't bother me. I realize that puts me in the like 1 percent of US sports fans.

Works the same way with GIFs (AKA moving pictures)

Corey, KC had one of the worst defenses in the NFL this year.

The stats show this but I don’t believe they were as bad as the stats showed. In the same stats they say that Mn is #1 Bears #11? I don’t believe anyone believes these stats are how they played at the end of the season.

Does the D coordinator keep his job if they beat the Pats and go all the way or was he doomed period?

Come on Corey, I know you are better than this. The only reason the Chiefs were even in the Championship game was because they scored 565 points during the regular season. Their point differential was the second best on football. BUT, they also gave up 421 points. That was the worst for any team that made the playoffs. The reason for the differential was not because they had a good defense. And they gave up 96 more points than the Patriots. Remember, you said they had a better defense than New England. That just isn't a fact.

The Chiefs' biggest problem was in saying, "to hell with whatever the opponent scores. We'll just score more." The San Diego Chargers had that approach when Dan Fouts played. How did that work out for them in the end. No Super Bowl appearances.

I know a lot of Chiefs fans. Every one of them were worried about the defense before the season even began. They know their team.

Can’t argue with you but I guess I don’t believe Pats defense was very good either this year. They have played better in the playoffs so far. They will need to bring their A game against the Rams but believe Brady will be the difference in the SB if the Pats play D like they did against the Chiefs.
