It's true.. looked thru the Wilkes County radio station's Twitter feed last night. NW led the entire way pretty much, 1st quarter was close then they took off in the 2nd quarter and it was 28-6 at one point in the 3rd.
This game blew my mind the most.. NW couldn't even stop Atkins at their scrimmage last week as they passed it all over them, it was bad. NF looked a bit better on film, guess not.

Said North Wilkes came ready to hit and North Forsyth couldn't overcome it. NW ran for 3 TD's and threw for 2. NF had a Pick 6 and a pass early but that was it.

NF been having alot of momentum since the hire of the new coach. I just expected more/better out of them
For the record, I’m not shocked. I’m skeptical of pretty much everything that concerns the NFHS athletic program. I dare say nothing else though. I got my hand slapped last time I tried to get into the details.
Atkins outscored and outplayed North Wilkes quite badly when they scrimmaged last week, and from what film I've seen and what I remember from our game last year NF's way better than Atkins. They even got one of Atkins's main players to move over. I honestly expected a 10-20 point win for NF here. It wasn't a bit close to that. Not good for them
North Wilkes meanwhile might be a team to watch in the MVAC after that win. Ashe is gonna have a transition year, Wilkes Central doesn't have that many kids, and West Wilkes isn't good.. they could very well win the 2A part of the conference if Ashe doesn't get better thru the year. Never thought I'd see that, I figured they'd be a solid #5 team.

Nobody becomes a contender simply by dropping classifications.
If the terrible North Davidson team from the mid-90s would have dropped down to 2A, they would have been a terrible 2A team. Yes, the depth doesn’t hurt, but if you’re kids aren’t good... they won’t be any good down low either. Maybe a couple of more wins per season, tops.
But I don’t think many below .500 3A or 4A teams could drop a classification and expect to do much better.
