This is a rematch from the regular season. In the first meeting it was Hickory 60 - North Lincoln 25.

Max Preps has it Hickory 52 - North Lincoln 39
Cal Preps has it Hickory 48 - North Lincoln 28

I'm no good at projecting scores, but I say Hickory by 4 TDs in this game.

I’m going say Hickory 52 North Lincoln 14. Hickory has gotten better since early in the season. Of course North Lincoln may have gotten better as well. Anyway Hickory wins big in this one.

My goodness no love for North Lincoln up in this room LOL. No direct all in fans either. Lincolnton and Maiden have alot of those poster fans which is good they keep us going in the CVAC room love these guys and some chime in here too. No NL posters, me I just kinda adopt them into my circle of team interest and of course I like underdog stories and NL seems to be a big one considering all the seasons they’ve struggled over the course of 20 years but yet some of those years were pretty good and coach Beam in the past and currently coach Bazzel have done a killer job with these guys.

My take on this game: Y’all know I’m a realist and I don’t pick a team to win no matter how loyal I am to that team all depending on who they play and such. I do that with East Burke. Whew I hope they get something turned around down there but anyway I’m favoring Hickory to win like anyone else just common sense however I’m not favoring a blowout like many are predicting, could I end up wrong and it be a blowout, oh absolutely but not seeing it and here’s why:

1. defense seems to have gotten better at the start of the playoffs, some might think we’ll the 1st 2 teams were easy, yes they were BUT, they showed they can hang when they limited Ashbrook, a team that beat amother team(South Point) twice that beat Crest during reg season. The thing that’s suspect of North Lincoln is their limited offense 2nd half of game against ABrk.

2. There is a moral and a boost and a fire in these boys for making history Friday and no doubt this was a team goal, to even make it to the 4th round. An honor and a victory by itself and if that’s as far as they go they got nothing to hang their heads about should they/most likely lose to such as high caliber team like Hickory.

3. Hickory obviously shows they can be scored on and get the chains moved on. Nothing wrong with that but they’re stilll good enough to get the win and came through against Crest.

4. North played Hickory better and closer the 2nd meeting last year and Wingate was even limited on touches then. 2nd time this time by the way they going it will and could be a better game. Gotta think too, North committed 4 to 5 fumbles last meeting. They limit that, be closer. It was one fumble against Ashbrook and you know how it went, those that were there.

My crazy guess Hickory 35 North Lincoln 21 or sightly more

North Lincoln gave up 55 to East Rutherford. It will get ugly again.
They sure did and East Rutherford has really improved and come to play. Sucks they got manhandled by Bervard but things happen. In that game, North had some turnovers which that’s been something they battled earlier in the season but improved as they went along and it was earlier in the season when they played. With the D playing Ashbrook like they did I doubt East Rutherford would hang 55 em again or even in the 40s or 30s if they played right now. Not saying they wouldn’t I just doubt they would lol.

Every game is different, we’ll see what happens

Nothing wrong with looking past NL but if I were a Hickory fan I’d be alittle concerned with Dudley. West Charlotte is out there killing it too and was once a feared powerhouse program for years and seems to be getting back to those days.

I have to give props for North Lincoln making 4 rds. They are 12-1. Any team playing after Thanksgiving is having a good season.
NL is having a great year. Nothing but respect for grinding it out. For a matchup standpoint I want Hickory to win. Hickory vs WC/Dudley would be a hell of a game to see from a fans perspective.

I seen that the gates open 5:45 and game starts at 7pm
This may be just as big of a crowd as last Friday at Hickory. Watching Football Friday Night replay I saw an empty seat here and there because it was butt cold and holiday but since we’re out of that and North on a historic run with curious fans that may be around with no kids playing BBall this could be interesting gate sale wise.

I was wrong bout the crowd size at NL Ashbrook game, walked right in and found some good spots were I usually sit and folks I don’t show up to North games unless it’s an even or better match school with more on the line and if there’s nothing big going on at a church somewere cause God comes first. Usually best time to get App State tickets falling on a holiday stretch.

So looks like highs in the Hickory area this Friday around 40 and low 20. Definitely coldest football night of the season so far. I decided I will come to this one, Wonder if cold weather might effect the throwing game.

It was cold last Friday and didn't affect Stober and company at all.
Agree .... but it usually isn't the QB that is affected by the cold as much as it is the receivers. Crest learned that last year (2023 season). Had some very talented, experienced receivers drop a few balls that ultimately helped end their season vs. Dudley. Cold night ... little wet. Those guys catch those balls, chains move, etc ... might be different ballgame.

Definitely going to feel the cold artic air tomorrow night. I know I will be bundle up for sure. Lol. Heard that RB Wingate for NL is about 59 yards of having 2,000 yrds on the season.

Heck yeah. He’s a young bull with speed that’s for sure. He should get those yards if Hickory’s D front is alittle less than Ashbrooks. North was def more battle tested and hardened dealing with them stuffing Wingate and Agee 2nd half, good thing they scored up 20 when they did in the 1st quarter and half of the 2nd quarter

@Lincolnton, you making an appearance tomm? Were my CVAC people gonna be at sound off y’all.
No, my friend, think I'll stay here and watch it on NFHS Network. I managed to come down with a case of runners knee, You having coached track and field, are familiar with it.

Know you'll be pulling for North, and congratulations to them for making it to round four...I have some ties to Hickory for old times sakes, along with having a dear friend from there who might just be their #1 fan, along with being the team statistician.

Post Script: Saw where you mentioned former Red Tornadoes fine quarterback, Hal Queen. One of my connections goes back to those days, too. All the best to you.

Well hope you get to feeling better my friend. It is gonna be too cold for some but watching a game there as opposed to home is quiet differ. If Maiden Creek or Grizz or AMD or anyone gonna be there shoot a notification on this page. I may get up off my seat and say hey if I’m not frozen to it ha ha

Key to POSSIBLE upset tonight for North- if that D steps up and holds the way they been doing in playoffs and O moves the chains and at least scores a TD or field goal every possession or almost every one with a few lucky calls/turnovers. Not expecting it but hey it’s 4th round they got this far for a reason.

They did have an easier path to 4th round than Hickory did I’d say and they may not be able to keep up with their WRs or get the pressure they need on Stober or basically not match up well but they did play good shutdown ball past 3 games and Hickory’s D may not be as good as some teams that’s made playoffs. Bazzel is a good coach and he’s been down this path before so good decision making and no panic will be KEY.

If North can control the clock and commit no turnovers, they can make this game interesting. Their best Defense will be their offense if they will it. Hickory will have no problem scoring...an effective RPO offense is impossible to stop.

Hickory by at least 2 scores if NL is on top of their game. But I see it being a 49-14 kinda game.

You guys said it right. NL must have zero turnovers to stay in the game. I think it’ll be about 42-28 and that’s if NL plays well. Only way NL could win is if Hickory turns it over multiple times and has big penalties. But it’s not impossible. NL is very well coached and will have a good game plan. This needs to be one of those nights where they execute the offense to perfection. They are capable.

I don’t see how they didn’t turn it over more cause those option pitch outs ain’t easy. Maybe this week they bee out mastering those cause they missed one against Ashbrook but held them to a FG. The other score was very controversial, their WR pushed off NL DB to catch it in that big gain to set up the score. Other than that North played really good D which is what’s keeping them hopeful tonight.

2 or 3 of their fumbles in their last meeting with Hickory were close to endzone. They been holding on to the ball real good past 3 games and doing it tonight will make a monster difference

Again. North needs to have the clock running at all times. Even on defense...

Hickory's rpo is dangerous. Play to stop the pass...which is where they are most surgical..and force the run. Play tough up front. Make their offense eat clock too. Hickory will score...make sure they have less overall time to do so.
