SWO1, 7'11 ? You can't be serious. That's nearly a foot taller than Shaquille O'neal.
I saw George Bell, once. He was 7'7. I recall how people were drawn to his friendliness. He shook hands with an official, here, and used his thumb, index and middle finger to shake his hand, but 7'11 and playing sports is incredible.

All I know now is what they have him listed on the roster. My grand daughter is a senior and dosnt know him. Another kid with the same last name is listed at 6'5" 285 lbs and is well know in the area. I will be there next Friday night and will see for myself.

Can't wait to check out our TE, 7'11" and 300 lbs. If he can play a lick should be a monster.

7'11"! I thought the kid at East Rutherford a couple years ago was big. He couldn't play a lick but he sure took up a lot of space. I can't remember, I think he was listed 6'9" and 400lbs. After seeing him in person, I believe that was extremely close.

Wizard, the demolition has started. As HS football fans, 2019 may have been the last real season. I’m nearly 75 and I realize I’ve got way more years behind me than in front of me but I really feel bad for the generation coming up, it didn’t use to be this way. The world has changed, but not for the better.😞
I'm 71 and agree, but I'm going yto try to remain optimistic. I know this, the election in November is going to be huge.

HS games are on in Missouri tonight. First game of the season. Its a home game so only 20 minutes away. Masks are encouraged but not mandatory. Every other seat and every other row in the stands marked off limits. Lawn chairs in the end Zone area allowed. The North end has a bank so its better. I will probably sit in the stands somewhere, top row, 50 yard line if I can get it. Social distance at the snack bars and rest rooms. Hot Dogs are OK, nothing great. Good Pop Corn and cold drinks. New home stands opened late last year. They face east away from the setting sun. Old home stands are now visitors. Two score boards, on each end. Nice facilities.

GO BISON !!!!!!!

SWO1, enjoy it. How nice it must be to attend a high school game. By the way, when you said the team name, I was able to see the roster and a couple highlights. They have him listed as 7'11 and 300 lbs., but no one on the team appeared to be close to 7 feet tall. They do look big, tough and pretty fast. I wonder if they could handle SWO? They'd have to hustle to beat the Stallions.

Well it was all offense and very little defense. Local team won 47-42. Visitors were bigger ... we were faster. Almost all big plays for us, about 75% pass and 25% run. They were around 99% run. I dont think the Bison took more than 5-6 plays to score while it was ball control and 4-6 yards a carry for the Bears.

A lot of our big boys didnt even suit up. #44 who was listed at 7'11" a no show. So I dont know if he exists or not. Also a boy I know who is 6'5" 300 lbs not there. In reality who played was on the small side for the Bison.

Another home game next week. Nice home side seats. All folding with backs. I got there at 6:30 and it was packed, both sides with a lot along the sides and endzones in lawn chairs. I had to sit on the bottom row at the 45.

Drove out to Tennessee to watch a game last night and stayed the night in the mountains.

Always so peaceful and the wife loved it. Nothing like Friday night football

I think SWO-#1 has got all of us wanting a football fix. South Carolina begins in September, but not sure. Several good teams, there, within a couple hours of here. The nearest teams from me in eastern Tennessee are a few hours away but within driving distance. I don't think I can hold off much longer before I start trying to find a particular game.

October 23rd Alcoa at Gatlinburg Pittman or October 29th Alcoa at Dobyns Bennett. September 11th Elizabethton at Daniel Boone could be a good game.

Saturday and Sunday its the American Rimfire Assoc. National Championships. Lots of great prizes to include a $5,000 custom Bench rest .22 rifle. Put together by some of the most talented smiths in the sport. Wishing my Buffalo Bisons a good game against a tough team, High powered offense, they put up 67 the first week. Packing up the RV and leaving Thursday morning, about a 4 hour drive ......

Congratulations to the Bison. I’m still curious if you believe the Bison could take the Stallions in most years.

IMO ....... NO WAY !!! Although we are a Class 3 still smaller and overall slower than SWO. Missouri has a majority of small rural schools. We have 5 classes. Only the large city areas, St. Louis, Kansas City, Springfield has class 4 and 5 teams. Class 4 and 5 play a shorter playoff schedule than 1-3. We realign every 2 years. Buffalo is the only school in the county with around 700 students. Away games are almost all around 60-100 mile trip. With 2 lane country roads and school buses its a long trip.

We have conference play but only consists of 6-7 game regular season schedule. Playoffs starts with District play consisting of 4 teams each. Only the district champ advances in the playoffs. So a team can go 9 or 10 - 1 and not advance. Last two years we finished 2nd in district and went out ....like losing in 2nd round in NC. Playoff games rotate every year East to West. So the best team dosnt always get home field advantage. All state final games are played in the Dome in St. Louis inside over two days.

Most of Missouri is rural and the second largest cattle state. About all you see is pickup trucks, cowboy hats and boots. And yes the boots and blue jeans are smeared with cow ****. Interesting smells on a warm night. o_O Friends of ours who live in NJ come out and on a crisp clear morning they ask ..... what is that smell ???? We just say MONEY. When calves are pulled from their mothers its constant balling for about a week..... and when the pastures are fertilized mostly with turkey crap it really gets ripe.

Around my county (Dallas) a lot of Menonite comunities who have their own school system and dont play sports. We share the roads with Horse and Buggys and a lot of bicycles.

SWO-1, thanks for the information on your team (Buffalo), how they would rate up with your NC team (SWO), and where you live.
I'm a homebody and haven't been many places but I was always curious.
There has to be a pretty keen interest in football, in that area. I looked at it on the map and it appears to be located between the University of Arkansas and the University of Missouri; also, Lenoir Rhyne (Hickory,NC) was beaten out in a Division II playoff by Northwest Missouri State who went on to win the title (2013).
There would have to be a big difference in Onslow County and where you are, now. If you are originally from NC, I hope they'll be good to you, out there. most people I've know with a connection to the Jacksonville area were associated with the Marine Corp.
Good luck to your teams, this year. Keep us posted on the Bison.

From the class 4 and 5 teams here I would say SWO could play with most of em. There is a class 4 team about 70 miles from me that is REALLY good. They get a lot of military kids from Fort Leonard Wood. The base dosnt have a High School, only Elm. and middle school. Multiple state titles and almost always in the running every year. Kansas City and St. Louis have top class 4 and 5 schools and could play with the best 4AA and 4A teams there. SpringField not so much.

I am from SW Virginia, born and raised on East River Mt. near BlueField VA. Spent over 20 years in Jacksonville NC with the Marine Corps and Civil Ser.vice. My kids all grad. SWO. My son went to ECU.

Culver-Stockton is a NAIA school ( comparable to Div. II ) in football. Its a small school with just under 1000 undergraduates in 2020. Its in Canton Mo. on the Mississippi River In the NE corner of MO. between KC and St. Louis.

Northwest Missouri State is a large Div. II school in the NW corner of Mo. About 4 hours north of me. North of KC and almost to the Iowa border.

All in all I like Missouri. Great hunting and fishing around here. I have some acres on a retirement farm, as they say. I run some cattle, but across the road on my brother-in-laws place. I dont think he has ever lived more than 10 miles from where he was born. I dont mess with the cattle as he likes to do it. I help with haying and taking them to market. We split the costs and split the profits, 60% to him and 40% to me. I dont go hungry....where is the Beef, here .... 😎
