Im staying in Odessa/Midland tonight. Is there any good places to eat or things to do? I stayed there a week ago and didn't find anything. I'm not looking for a 5 star dining experience, but something that's above Applebee's
Cork and pig is pretty good. Same general area is White House meat market - good burger. I normally stay at the home wood and both are right there in the parking lot. Jersey girl pizza is pretty good. Several decent taco joints. Elva's is probably my favorite. Had chicken at pollos asados a couple times ago and it was really good.
If you get over to midland, try Luigi's. Old school red sauce place that's been around forever.
Forgot a couple. The barn door is a steakhouse ... More cattlemans than Ruth's Chris. They bring you a block of cheddar cheese to your table ... Good steak and good sides. Zucchi's is Italian-ish. Solid food good atmosphere. Both of these are long time local Odessa places.
Thank you. It's only my second trip (of many more) and I'm trying to avoid chain restaurants at all costs. Also, hotels are expensive, give the recent oil climate. I know they are much lower than they were, but still seemed high even knowing that.
I DID go to a Taco Bell last time I was there. Here's what I don't understand-how can an area that produces that much wealth be so mediocre? I can only guess that those people making tons of money feel the same way about the area that we do.
I'm in Midland a lot since I work with O&G clients and I eat at Wall Street Bar & Grill downtown at least 3-4 times when I'm there for a week. You won't be disappointed.
