Offensive line

I have some questions about our offensive line. First, Landon Young at one point wasn't playing in the second half of the Alabama game. Did he get banged up or did he come out to get more experience in there? If he's hurt, has there been a mention of it and what kind of injury he has and timetable for return? Also, is Meyers hurt?

Second, Big George has kind of bounced around this year, but to my knowledge he really isn't starting at either guard or tackle. Last game the starters were apparently (from left to right) Young, Haynes, Toth, Stallings, & Meadows. So, why is it that Big George isn't starting anywhere? From what I can tell when we bring in backups we actually move Meadows to LT and have George AA at RT. We then would typically have Stenberg at LG, Toth at C and Stallings at RG. What are your thoughts about this rotation and the use of George AA/Stallings?

I find the OL personnel rotation a little confusing, to be honest. It all starts with not really having enough true OT, I suppose. What is the story with Leavitt? Confirmed JUCO to redshirt situation? Has he played at all???

1. Landon is young and was getting manhandled.
2. We lack coaching on the O.L. Guys aren't being developed like they should be.

Landon is going to take his beatings. He has had some good plays in his short time here and he's had some bad plays. He was getting beaten quite badly by Williams, but I think that is also a product of not keeping someone in to help him. I think we'd be much better if we could get someone like Boom to chip the left tackle and then go out into the flat for a pass. Get Boom in space and give our QB just a bit more time.

Leavitt, according to participation reports (which are notoriously wrong) has not played this season. I would think with our depth he would at the very least be able to spell our offensive linemen at right tackle. However, I suppose that George AA is better at RT and then Stallings is just as good at RG as George, so maybe we're better this way?

Our offensive line has not been as strong as most thought it would be this year.
Whitlow and Smith ran for their lives and were constantly crushed....and that was back when the SC East was much tougher because of Missouri's physicality. Next, Towles never got the protection he needed to be successful, then Barker and now Johnson is struggling for time, although he MUST hang onto the ball.

The OL and DL talent has usually been insufficient to compete with the better teams on our schedule. Hopefully, they will improve and play better the rest of this season ....

Landon will be good, very good. He is suffering typical t-FR OL problems right now, especially with speed rushers. But I really like his foot quickness. He just needs to get stronger and adjust to the game at this level. Can't speak to Leavitt other than to say JUCOs, especially OLs, are seldom the "immediate help" they are often characterized to be. JMO.

Young flat missed some assignments and didn't block the right guy. He also got pancaked at least once. Good athlete for his size but not as strong as he needs to be. Starting as a freshman at OT in the SEC is one thing, starting as a freshman at OT against Bama is another.

Landon young will be very good, but lacks the strength right now, hard to give him help and still get a back out.

Landon got "roached" a couple of times in the uscjr game as well. That spot is killing us right now.
